FBI Bankrolls Terrorist Plots in Order to Stop Them

The FBI has increasingly relied on confidential informants to foil terrorist plots, even if those informants are terrorist themselves.

With all those tv shows you'd think the FBI would be at least more decent than the CIA/NSA, whose agents often commit crimes for the interests of national security and intelligence. It doesn't seem to be the case here.

I actually know a guy that got arrested for this. It makes for great headlines and conspiracy theories, but at least in the case with the kid I know, they gave him multiple opportunities to back out, and he offered the site he wanted to bomb, and the time to do it. The FBI merely monitored him and offered the fake resources to kill a bunch of people. If they didn't monitor him and string him along like that, does he find some other way to do it that they don't know about? Does he get frustrated with his efforts and do something like a crude attack with guns? There are a lot of facets to it, and it's much more complex than "entraptment" or fake training of potential incompetent terrorists.

In my understanding, they take these guys down once they press the imaginary "boom" button.
