I'm only 16 but different things have made me feel old,
1. They remade the fucking Pokemon games, I played those when they first came out and now another generation of little kids will get obssessed.
2. Next school year most of the kindergarteners will have been born i 2000 These kids never saw the 90's

You think you feel old. I'm 19 feeling like I'm going on 30. Kids this is a lesson to drink all your drugs and just no to milk.

I know what you mean, man! When VH1 came out with "I Love The 90s", I suddenly felt very old, despite only being 17. It took until 2004 to finally feel like I was iout of the 90s, and now very suddenly the 90s seem so, so far away.

Neither of you can even legally drink and you are already complaining about being old???

Anyway, at 20 you will think that someone who is 30 is old. At 30, you will think that someone who is 40 is old. And so on.

But, yes, it is strange to see toys that you grew up with having been re-released. Seeing cabbage patch kids and strawberry shortcake dolls at toys r' us when I was looking for something for a coworker's kid was a strange experience. I am 29 and these things were around when I was a kid.

You got that right. I feel the same way.

I hate you all! Seriously I'm 5-6 years older than some of you and having you say you feel old makes me feel even more old. Now I know how my parents feel when I say I feel old.

Indeed, 22 here and a semester away from the end of college...I'm about to leave the last sanctuary from full adulthood, that makes me feel old.

A 16 year old that feels old makes me feel old simply because i'll be 26 in a week.

I hate being out in stores or wherever and hearing songs i grew up on being played on oldies stations....

I hate all these kids with their damn 07 school jackets because just a minute ago i was a wearing a 97 jacket....

I hate bitching about young people cause i sound like my parents now....

You are talking about pokemon remakes making you feel old, well how do you think i feel about Super Mario Brothers and all the original NES being rereleased and called a Classic Series. I cut my gaming teeth on these as a 5-6 year old.....

'07? Hell I saw an '08 yesterday, it was mildly depressing considering mine had '01 on it... I really do hate this thread.

just think of the Toys R Us theme song and all your pain will go away. But seriously, whenever i feel old, which at 21 am i in no way "old", i just think of that song and start laughing. weird, yes. does it help, yes.

and to:

i don't look at people in the 30s and 40s as being old. i always feel that you are only as old as you feel. my grandma is a good example of this, shes in here late 60s and she seems like shes only in her 30s. shes just got that kind of outlook.

so, be young have fun and drink pepsi

Well hey, they never saw the 80's either, and that's one of my fav times in US history. xD

I only saw a year and a month or so of it.

I started feeling old when everything I grew up with start to make a come back. He-Man, Ninja Turtles, Transformers, ect and all the "Old School" video game stuff, and Remeber the 90's. Movies and songs we grew up with being remade of being called oldies or classic rock. This shouldn't be happening I'm only 23, I shouldn't be feel like my parents at this age. -_-
You think you feel old. I'm 19 feeling like I'm going on 30. Kids this is a lesson to drink all your drugs and just no to milk.
I believe it goes: Kids if you stay in milk, drink your drugs and don't do school, you can get work!

21 isn't so bad, it's 22 that things start getting fucked up, people start graduating and getting real jobs, and you're like damn... we're all old now

I just turned 34......here's some perspective:

When I was 17 my main concerns in life were as follows:

-How to do 'ok' in school without actually trying
- Wondering "who can get me beer this friday?"
- Wondering where we'd go to drink the beer on friday
- Wondering what new, incredible Commodore 64 game I might be able to download from the local BBS, and wondering how I could con my parents into getting me an AMIGA, the holy-grail of gaming systems.

Today at 34, my concerns are:
- How to do OK at my job without getting fired, let go, or laid off, and then wondering how I'll pay my mortgage :p

- Wondering if its even worth the inevitable headache and cotton mouth I'll get when I pop a few beers back, or open a bottle of Chardonnay.

- Wondering what super new game I'll be able to buy for the PC or XBOX or PS2.....

In other words: its all relative. The net changed things.......before the only place you'd find 17 year olds talking with 34 year olds might be at a summer job, or in jail ;)
Some of us about to be 35 think you young people saying you're old is complete crap.
AGREE'D
I turn 21 in 20 days, and I honestly can't say I feel old at all. If you talk to me in 21 days, I may think different.
Trust me, you won't. The only thing is you will be able to buy beer with no hassle, which doesn't make you feel old, it just makes you drunk.
21 isn't so bad, it's 22 that things start getting shaq-fued up, people start graduating and getting real jobs, and you're like damn... we're all old now
I refer to it as being "grown up," not "old." It doesn't sound as depressing that way.

Try this out. Take some common technology that came to fruition within your memory as talk about it with kids who cannot remember when it didn't exist. I recently had difficulty telling a story to a group of 11-year-olds who couldn't wrap their head around the concept of a time in living memory when cell phones were not commonplace. The idea of someone running around to find a payphone was just baffling to them.

That 'Child's Play' article in the current EGM really does it to me. These brats are prototypical of the mindset that the universe sprang into existence at their birth.

That is one cool thing about the internet, it brings together random groups of people, as long as a common interest exists there's a connection.

Yeah but hangovers are good previews of what old age feels like.

I know exactly what you mean, not only have I been guilty of it when I was younger, but I am sure our children won't be able to comprehend the idea of a television where you had to get up off of your ass and walk over to the television to change the channel.

Great post, and even better point.

Here's something that makes me feel old. I graduated high school before a lot of you were even born (1984).

If that's not bad enough, how about this: I was born in the '60s. The mid-'60's, in fact! (1966)

God, I'm old.

If it makes you feel any better I was born in 1982

You know you're old when you find yourself flirting with girls who were born right about when you started flirting with girls ;)

You sum it up perfectly - although, at 20, I'm not feeling old - besides, I really wouldn't like to still be in Jr. High.
I'm feeling old just hearing teenagers say they're feeling old.
No kidding. You guys are so young and have your whole lives in front of you...Oh GOD! I sound so old. Never mind.
Turned 28 today. 2 more years until 30. Damn, now I'm depressed.
I am going to be 33 in April... Talk to someone who is 50 and 33 is young. Talk to someone who is 70 and 50 is a spring chicken. Talk to my great aunt who was 103 when she passed away and I am sure she would have wished to be 90 again.

I just rolled this reply around in my mind and it's very true.

Scary true!

God, I feel like a senior citizen now!

I'm 18 and I miss some of the stuff from my early youth. I started gaming at the age of 4 or 5 with an NES and a old hand me down Atari 2600 and been gaming ever since. A lot of stuff has changed even for me a lowly 18 year old. Cartoons (mainly saturday morning) are nothing what it used to be, TV shows aren't good anymore, Games aren't as fun they used to be, Arcades are gone just to name a few. I get nostalgic all the time, about how thing used to be not that long ago, eating pizza at the parlor, putting quarters after quarters into street fighter turbo, coming in when the street lights come on, how simple things used to be. Now I have a job, in college and have bills to worry about. Do I fee old? no, hell I'm still a kid but I get nostalgic all the time. As they say, being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up(and I still am).
