With Square-Enix, the classic hits just keep on coming. After their recent announcement regarding Final Fantasy V's release on the PlayStation Store comes another similar announcement that's bound to get many, many gamers very excited.

Final Fantasy VI, arguably the best game in the series, is coming to PlayStation Network. This news comes by way of the Japanese Square Enix Members Twitter, which states that Final Fantasy VI is coming to the PlayStation Network on April 20th due to the amount of requests they've received from fans.

There's no word on if or when Final Fantasy VI will come to the PlayStation Network outside of Japan, but considering Square Enix's recent track record with PSone Classics, there's good reason to be hopeful.

That's cool. I just finished Final Fantasy VI on the GBA. I'm guessing this PSN game is going to be a PSone game, which is the Final Fantasy Anthology.

It would be awesome if Sony/Square Enix decided to port an updated version to the PSP like they did with Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection.

All I need is the addition of General Leo as a playable character through out the entire game and I would be sold

If only they would add some stuff of these games but we all know these are honestly just lazy ports so SE can cash in on their past, much like Nintendo does.

I won't lie though, I'm glad they're bringing some of the more deserved classics to PSN... Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross and FFVI are still some of the finest games SE has released. I don't think it's unfair to say that the ones that haven't made it over to NA will eventually.

The one game I really do wish they'd release on PSN is Bahamut Lagoon. It is easily one of the best SE games not to be released outside of Japan.

[sarcasm]AWESOME[/sarcasm]

Give me SSX Tricky with online like they did with MvC 2 and I'll be happy.

All these square re-releases are getting old.

Yea I know lazy as crap ports which is why I still have my SNES with original carts of most SE games. The Complete collection of FFIV is definite  but I will probably wait till GS inevitably has a 9.99 sale on it like they did for the original 2.

one of the best final fantasies, if it's cheap i'll surely get it. if not, download it on my phone n play with an emulator

They rated VI and Chrono Trigger on the ESRB website for PS3 and PSP. Sounds like they'll make them available as PSOne Classics.
