I knew he looked kinda girly, but now that I study the picture, I see that he just looks plain gay.
 
It is crap like that, that is making the FF series go down hill.

And even if they try to make him butch look at his face - he looks like Jacko.
 
I don't about earlier ones, but since VII, all of the main characters have looked a little feminine. But I don't think the games are bad because of it.

agreed. couldnt that message in your sig also apply to the way character looks scrubking? if it plays like ff, who cares what he looks likes. i like ffx and look at tidus.
 
All Final Fantasy games have feminine characters. Just look at the character art pics from previous Final Fantasy’s. This is one from FFVI.

Sigh. It is the ideology behind him looking like that. The mentality that made him look gay filters down into the other aspects of the game as well. It is not a coincidence that the games have been getting worse along with the looks.

And yes, some of their male characters have looked kind of femenine, but now they are just taking it to the Nth degree. The only thing left is to slap a pair of tits on him.
 
They want to game to appeal to girls as much as guys so they give the guys a few cute female heroines to look at and they give the girls Boyband fodder heros, it's been going on for years and it's not going to change anytime soon.

i find it so very amusing that a person who equates feminine looks with being gay and then equates that with the your opinion of the series' decline in quality gameplay can try and belittle what i have said. are you even thinking about what you say before you say it? not only is it extremely offensive and crude but ultimately wrong. lets try this. i would like you to name one final fantasy game since the time (im assuming VII) you claim they have been making the character more feminine looking that did not get widely spread critical acclaim. oh thats right. you can not. unless you are saying that your personal opinion outweighs the opinions of every gaming magazine/ website in the past 10 years. now lets look at the games where you probably view the character as more masculine. the 8 bit and 16 bit era. since graphics were not of the capability that they are today, in order to make a character feminine looking they would have no choice but to make a character pink or give it the name Celes. you dont know what the designer actually had in his mind when creating the character as it could not be portrayed accurately on the NES or SNES. then again when final fantasy anthology was released for ps1, once masculine characters in our head are suddenly rather feminine looking as well. but i guess fact were never really a factor in your "gay" character theory. sigh.
 
Lately I have found all your posts amusing. And since you are too stupid and narrow minded too understand what I said let me elaborate and say that square's mentality of always having to have something radically new and different, which contributes to the characters looks, is what is making the series go down hill imo.

you say- "the final fantasy games have been getting progressively worse"

i say- "no, each sequel has been a stellar addition to the series"

you say- "making a character look feminine makes him look like a homosexual"

i say- "that is an offensive stereotype"

you say- "final fantasy characters have only lately been feminine looking"

i say- "that is an assumption on your part and most likely not true"


i did make no mention however of squares mentality to make every game new and radical since you made no mention of it in your original post.

IMO, the series isn't going downhill. I just think that one character design is just really stupid. I love FFX and Tidus, I think that his character design is bitchin and fits his role perfectly. I just have a problem with the FFXII character Vaan (the pic I posted), because he just looks really fucking gay. If he's supposed to be gay, then more power to Square but if he isn't, then wtf.
 
I don't have many problems with the FF series (though FF IX was one of the worst). The whole 'feminine' look is part of Japanese culture. Look at Raiden in MGS2. It's what's considered handsome over there. I don't know if it's a fad though.

This guy DOES bear a very strong resemblance to Wacko Jacko, though. I wonder if he gets convicted if they'll change the way the character looks...
 
I thought Raiden looked cool. I mean, just the long hair doesn't make him a fruit.

seriously though my pants are not officially wet i didn't know it was going to take such a radical change and i'm so fucking pumped that it looks like vagrant story did because vagrant story was such a pimp game and it had such a cool fighting engine nice man nice thanks for awesome post
 
If I recall correctly the team members for FF12 that worked on VS (the character designer and producer if I recall correctly) also have a hand in FFtactics and FFTAdvance which take place in the same universe as FF12... maybe VS is the same universe? I forget.

Anyway the main character is supposed to be younger than 18 thus adding to his less than macho appreance.
 
Yes this game looks like Vagrant Story 2. I liked Vagrant Story but the mad combos were very annoying after awhile. I hope FF XII will not use a combo battle system when they said the battle system is new to the Final Fantasy series.

I have enjoyed all the Final Fantasy's some more then the others. The FF games have always had feminine looking male characters. This debate is not new to the series. If you are not secure enough with your sexuality to play as Vann go play FF X-2. If you have something homophobic to say please leave it out of this topic. The word is feminine not gay. Gay is a stereotype.
