Finding Used Systems

I am not just a cheap ass gamer but a broke ass gamer as well. I want to pick up PS2 and go back and play some of the old games I missed and replay the ones I love.

I don't want to pay full price, i am a cheap ass gamer after all. I see used PS2s for sale at GameStop and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions of the used systems they sell. Are they a decent buy? or would I be destined for disappointment?

They are fine, if a little dusty. And you could buy them with a network adapter at no additional cost. That network adapter is worth a lot on eBay for some strange reason even though it's $15 at the gamestop.

I bought a used PS2 from GS five years ago and it has worked great ever since then. I'm sure the quality of used consoles will vary from system to system depending on how well the previous owner treated it, though. Your guess is as good as mine as to the quality of the system you'll ultimately wind up getting.

You can always try craigslist, too. You'll at least be able to save $10.00 + tax off of Gamestop prices and you can test the system out before you buy (depending on the seller).

Network Adapters allow pirates to stream ISOs to their PS2s from their computer. They're selling for so much because a lot of game pirates want them.

actually most of the Ps2's I've seen on craigslist are way overpriced. Gamestop is pretty good.

At least at gamestop you get a return policy. On craigslist it's buyer beware.

If you wanna go the craigslist route, you'll probably find a fat for $175 with maybe a couple sports games thrown in. Good deal? you decide.

Check craigslist. I constantly see them for $20-50 with some games or at least a second controller and memory card thrown in.
