Hey guys, if any of you guys have the triple play (TV, internet, and phone) from FiOS:

1. Does the phone rely on the internet bandwith, or is it just like the regular phone service from Verizon?
2. I read that you can have DVR in the whole house instead of just on one TV. Does this mean I only have to pay the DVR fee once? Or for every TV in the house?
3. IS the TV quality and internet quality really that much better?
4. Has the internet connection ever timed out on you?

I only have the internet and phone service so...

1. The phone service is using the fios line and NOT the telephone line. If the power goes out, verizon installs a battery so you can still connect to the fios line and make calls. Also you get caller ID and I think 3 way calling included in the phone service.

4. I have only been disconnected only once or twice since I got the service last April. Way better than their shitty DSL service which used to be like once a day. ;/
The internet is very stable and speeds don't jump up and down.

If you have a chance to get FIOS, then you should really jump on it. Especially if your current internet sucks.

Be cautious with Fios... I too thought it was great til I started having problems. Tech support is a joke and don't be surprised if they never arrive on time or ever show up. Every few months they bump whatever channels your use to watching into a higher tier package so you have to pay MORE to get what you had before :(
Internet speeds aren't that great :|

The phone service uses the fiber optice cable. It used to be just like plain telephone service but over fiber instead of copper. I recently switched plans and the phone service is now VOIP instead.

There are 2 different DVRs. I have a DVR that works only on my one TV. They have another DVR (Home Media DVR) that costs more than the other DVR but which can feed the recorded shows to any other TV. If you have the Home Media DVR that you pay extra for that DVR but that's it. (Of course you still need set top boxes on the other TVs that you will pay for.

3. IS the TV quality and internet quality really that much better?
I love FIOS TV. Good quality, Lots of channels. I don't notice the internet speed difference really although speakeasy.net says I'm getting 25 mbps download and 15 mbps upload so I think that's really fast.

4. Has the internet connection ever timed out on you?
Not that I have noticed.

My only issue is that everytime I make any sort of change to my account, Verizon screws up my billing. I once had Verizon install a new TV outlet and they billed me for 4 outlet installations (at $50 each). After months of calling and trying to get the charge fixed on my bill I finally issued a complaint with the state public utility commission. They forwarded the complaint to Verizon and I got that taken care of right quick.
