Five Ways to Play Metal Slug Anthology

Give me the Wii Remote only scheme. I'd like it as classic as possible. No flicking or what not. It would be even better if the classic controller would work since that has a better grip than the Wii Remote.

I'm remembering seeing in relation to the new control schemes that classic controller and/or GameCube controller are supported.

Wow, that is pretty cool how you are given so many choices of control scheme...But I think that I too would like the Wiimote only scheme, using the D-pad to move.

As long as I don't have to use any of those ridiculously stupid control schemes they thought up and can just use the standard D-pad + 3 buttons... I'm fine with this version.

That Arcade mode is pretty wild.

I just like the fact that someone is taking the effort to make a lot of different styles. Hopefully developers will feed off each other and discover what works best for a variety of situations.

I'll prolly try a few of 'em out, but I'll stick with traditional controls for now.

Like most of y'all said, the standard Wii Remote control looked best to me.

The nunchuk controller option seemed OK too.

I don't know how pleasant arcade mode will be to play, but I love that option existing...that's something I never thought of, actually using the Wiimote as like an arcade stick.

everyone is going to look like a idiot playing the wii. At first I liked the concept but after thinking about it and watching people play, i know i am going to get sick of it in a week.

I don't want to come off as anti-wii (cause I'm not) but none of those control schemes were very appealing to me. I'd much rather play with a standard controller.

With a game like this, there's not going to be a better control scheme than what's already out there with standard controllers... so it's not anti-Wii to not see the appeal of some of these ridiculous ideas.

I was on the fence about picking up Metal Slug Anthology.... but after seeing it in action, Im pre-ordering one tomorrow.

This looks awesome, and it's only going to be $39.99. :D

And there is actually six different ways to play Metal Slug Anthology, the extra one being the ability to play using your Gamecube controller. I think I'll like the first one in the video, I think it was called "Nunchaku Control"?

The nunchuk scheme is really more arcade like than the arcade control. Analog stick is the joystick, buttons at your right hand.

Edit: Nevermind, I guess they're about the same.

I am not amused and Metal Slug is a arcade game which is not for remote controller home. Plus the graphics looks as if it was edited by a fancy image editor.

While I do respect what they're doing, much like the DS, the Wii's control scheme should not just be retrofitted over older games or games that it simply does not work for. I'm hoping the Wii will give us a balance of software like the DS, some that use the unique input incredibly well and couldn't be done on another system. While others ignore the new controls and stick with the traditional set because that's just how they work best. Hopefully the contradicing new about Classic / GC controller support in this collection ends up in favor of being able to use them vs. not.

The arcade control mode looks awesome. I just wish I could use the Wiimote to point my gun while moving with the control stick.

As it's been said, it's really awesome that they're giving us multiple control schemes instead of forcing us to live with one.

I think it is pretty cool that they put all those options in there. I've never been that great at Metal Slug, but it seems like it could add a lot of replay value (like a seven game collection really needs added replay value) for a completist. Ok, you've beaten all the games with your preferred control method, now try to do it with each of the other control methods.

[quote name='botticus']GameCube controller is supported, that's a good thing in this case:

Yeah, I think I mentioned it on the first page. I think it's very smart of the developers to include that, as it seems like a lot of people here just want to play Metal Slug via a traditional control scheme.

I wish Nintendo did that with Twilight Princess... I'm excited about playing it with the Wii controls, but if I end up not liking them, then what?

after watching this, i think many people will develop carpal tunnel very easily, and there will be some sort of class action lawsuit against nintendo

I already have carpal tunnel from the NES controller.
