Post thoughts

This is a few years old, though it doesn't make it any less impressive.
This is a perfect example of procedural graphics, which is what Will Wright is planning on using for Spore.

It's also a bit misleading - the game code heavily relies on DirectX to do all sorts of things to get the file size down. So I'd think of it as 96K + how ever many MB for DirectX. Still nifty though.

Yea I remember this. There was also a really nice browser fps that supported multiplayer and everything. It was in alpha those couple of years ago.

Lol awesome. I posted a barfing emote in that thread. I was so cool 2 years ago...

Thats almost a non point. Direct X is required for just about everything a media centric PC does. Even is direct x was totally extraneous, would you rather download a 20mb set of instructions and 100kb games or 20mb of instructions and 2gb games? Either way, I think it proves a very valid point that coders are just getting sloppy....er. Its getting so bad, that the solitaire for Windows Vista burdeoned my machine. Yea, just because my pc can perform 6 billion operations a second doesn't mean it needs to dedicate 5 billion of them to moving a card.
