Free 1 month Xbox live subscription cards via used GTA4 copies at GS.

Most Gamestops have already taken in plenty of used copies of GTA4, initial shipments came with free 1 month Xbox live cards. A lot of the used copies have 1 month Xbox live cards in them. If you ask the manager or an employee I'm sure they'll let you take them. I managed to get a hold of 8 of them. My brother has 4.

Did a quick search and found nothing.

I mean, what is the next thread going to be about? "I was in a GS and the associate only ate half his sandwich and gave me the other half......FREE!"

I swear, I think all new threads should now go through an approval process by the mods before they are posted....

Card isn't required for the sale. In fact most people aren't even aware of it. It's basically Xbox live for free.

I didn't say it was required. I'm asking why wouldn't they just leave it in there so the person actually SPENDING MONEY can use it?

Besides, just because there's 1 associate in 1 GS who is randomly giving stuff away from the store doesn't make this a nationwide deal.

Because the average Gamestop employee doesn't care about customer satisfaction. I went to 3 different Gamestops and did this, but with an attitude and temper like yours I'm sure you run into trouble trying to get free stuff.

This is my favorite site on the internet, and I keep seeing threads that either aren't really deals, or are store-specific and it really keeps legitimate threads from getting the attention they deserve. It wasn't a problem a few years back, because there were less people on, and superfluous threads like this were rare.

Now, it happens every day, and important threads become tougher to see, so that's why I posted. That's why I think threads should now go through an approval process. This thread isn't posting a deal. Some guy at some store is giving away 1-month cards from used copies of GTAIV. That's actually pretty awesome, but has no relevance on this, specific board. Perhaps in a regional board, maybe, but try going into your local GS and ask them for any 1-month cards from their display copies of used GTA IV's and see what they say.

Seriously. I'll wait right here.

Actually, if I went into your store to buy one of those used copies of GTA IV and found out the employees have been taking out the 1-month cards and just giving them away, I'd actually be irritated, as I'm actually trying to spend money and that card should have been in there. If the original person kept and used it, then that's one thing, but if they traded it in, then it should go to the next owner and not to some random customer who walks in.

What the hell, the guy was trying to be nice and alert us to something that could benefit us all. Don't like it? Keep your fucking mouth shut. Nobody asked you to read the thread, so if you're not into getting Xbox Live for free, this isn't the place.

Moreso, I visited my local GS and picked up ~12 of these today, so I'm set for the next year or so. I remember doing this with Crimson Skies ages ago, and getting a year card, but I hadn't thought about it again until I saw this. Thanks OP. :D
 
If you feel a thread isn't in the appropriate forum you should PM a mod and voice your concern to them. Ubiiquitous, You've been around here long enough that you should already know this.

Yep. It gets attention, then gets deleted. And that should be "Sir", not "Chief".

The Xbox live cards were given to the initial shipments. If you buy a new copy of GTA4 right now(non-initial shipment) you will not find the Xbox live card. The only thing that GS cares about is the disc.

That's cool. I just think that it should be left in there for the next owner if it is traded in with the game. If it doesn't come with a person's trade-in, then that is a different story.

BTW, I was re-reading the posts in this thread and I really come off looking like a jerk. For that, I genuinely apologize to the OP and to anyone else I may have offended (NOT sarcasm). I still stand by my initial point, but after re-reading my thoughts, I now realize I could have made my points more diplomatically and professionally.

Not trying to defend myself, but I get increasingly more frustrated with all of the topics that should be in different threads, because it truly makes it more difficult for me to sort through the threads that really are applicable to the topic. It's kind of hurt the site a little, IMO. However, people voicing those points in a somewhat hostile way doesn't help matters either.

I should probably count to 20 before I post with my thoughts.....

That's cool, man. I saw your post before the edit and felt like I'd let it slide because I probably earned it. :)

Have you ever said something or wrote something immediately after seeing/hearing something without giving yourself a chance to think about it? I have that problem sometimes. Even though I think my points are valid when I make them, I don't always express them in the best way. Some things are kind of big deals and I can overract if I don't take a second to formulate a respectful response.

I re-read everything and thought to myself "man, that's not AT ALL the type of person I am, but it sure looks that way if you read my posts in this thread." I wanted to make sure I rectified the situation, because this is a cool site with cool people and I don't want to be someone who unwittingly affects that negatively.

So, again, sorry about the posts. Let's all just live happily as CAG's.
