Well, this has worked twice now...

First I bought 9 games at TRU. (the green tag ones and the 2+1 promo works) and I traded in 3 at my EB for. I paid $10 for three games and for $10 each at EB. EB wouldn't take the other six, so I took five of them back to TRU. When I did, the lady took the 5, and then said she owes me $5.29. I couldn't figure out why...

My second trip to TRU. I buy six games... I attempted to trade them in again, but that didn't work. I returned all six back to TRU. As I said, another customer service rep. said she's refunding back the money for four games, and I should just keep the other two because she can't refund me for those since the receipt $0. My friend stood there in disbelief and I didn't even realize it. So basically, I bought six games, returned them all, and they let me keep two. This happened twice, with two different people.

What were the games? They were from the B2G1 deal, right? If so, then the CS rep fucked up big time. Good for you, though.

What. The. F.

My local TRUs will list a game as free on the B2G1 receipt but auto-adjust returns from the sale so that each game comes out to 1/3 of the total price.

I think chickenhawk was using hyperbole there.

Once is an accident, twice is a pattern.
Not cool.

I had no idea what she was doing. I gave the games back to the customer service rep JS. She handed two back to me and said she can't refund me so I should just keep them. I didn't ask to at all, I just wanted to get my money back because my EB wouldn't accept the games to trade in. I have them sitting right behind me still sealed.
What were the games? They were from the B2G1 deal, right? If so, then the CS rep shaq-fued up big time. Good for you, though.
Uh... some Music Maker game, and Mad Maestro.

How can you sell something that's for free?

Ok, this was one incident, right? That's not nearly as bad.

Like I said, one time is an accident.

From what you had written, it looked like you did this, saw what she did, and then ran back, bought more games and did the same thing again. I'd still have given all of the games back, but I can't expect everyone to behave as I would.
yeap now there be tons of idoits trying this at their TRU and ruining the chance they will do a buy 2 get 1 free deal again
Nope, because this is an obvious training issue at this store.
Try this at a store where the people are actually trained to the level corporate expects and you'll be laughed right out the door.

I dont really know. I did this was either last year or the year before and they did the same thing... Well not the same thing but they tried to give me 50 for the free game and i was like 3/100 should be 33.33.... I also got some games on sale a few years back and the people tried to give me the full refunds . THey seemed shocked when i handed them the extra money back saying i only paid 15 why are you giving me 20.....

Sadly this is why BB stopped matching deals. Mejiers has buy 1 get 1 50% off and BB matched that. Well too many idoits when back and took the 50% off game and traded it for another game then took that back for a full refund. In the end they walked out with a brand new game for 50% off.

That's pretty generous of you to call it a "training issue" when it's really more a lack of common sense.

It was twice. The first time. I gave 5/6 games back, and they said they are refunding me the money for the sixth game. I was like "uh okay?". the second time, a totally different CSR just said to keep the two games.
Just cuz you steal something doesn't mean its free.
I didn't steal anything. I expected to get my money back, that was all. How can you try to say I stole when the CSR said she couldn't refund me money on two games, so she just handed them to me and said to keep them.
Actually learning that those were the 2 games, I'm surprised they didn't pay him to take them.
Yeah, and hes posting here , wanting to look all cool, beating the system, but in fact he got the worst two games of the entire PS2

BRILLIANT!!!

sounds like the bottom line is this is not something to abuse, just like if you had a cashier with poor math skills giving you incorrect change- some people pocket it, some people return it and sometimes you dont realize what happened until afterwards

(wasnt there a steve martin skit about this once?)

the absent minded waiter?

Hey jsweeney, GOD called, your wings, harp, and halo are ready for you for pick-up. Stop trying to peddle your morals onto others and worry about your self righteous self. As per my idea, it was just that, AN IDEA. I havent put it into action so your flaming me about it was funny because you assumed. I did ask the GR guy if he would take a copy of a coupon. Guess what he said? Damned if he didnt say sure. I even asked him about the extra $5 and he said that he could TRY to see if it would work. Go tell your church buddies how cool you are that you have tried to convert the heathens. And stop wasting your time breaking people's posts down. It just makes you look like an a-hole. It is almost as if you THINK you are better than everyone. Get a job, get a life, and stop wasting my time.

For curiosity's sake, what have you to say to those people who buy clearance games for the sole purpose of trading them/selling them for profit. With a straight face, if you are so moral, admit that you havent taken advantage of a pricing error, cashier's mistake, etc. I will be waiting for that answer.

Nice. I was sure that Halo 2 wasn't going to be released for a couple of weeks. I guess appealing to a higher authority puts you inline for better hook-ups. The wings are fine... but I think they messed up... those are supposed to be attached to the Victoria's Secret angels.

Stop trying to peddle your morals onto others and worry about your self righteous self

I don't worry. It's a wasted emotion.

As per my idea, it was just that, AN IDEA. I havent put it into action so your flaming me about it was funny because you assumed.

The idea deserves to be flamed just as much as the act. It's fraud.
Talking about fraud like it's a deal makes it look like it's acceptable to other people. Whether or not you did it only has bearing on whether you are a thief or not.

I did ask the GR guy if he would take a copy of a coupon. Guess what he said? Damned if he didnt say sure. I even asked him about the extra $5 and he said that he could TRY to see if it would work.

Just because you got an ignorant clerk to believe you doesn't prove anything about the veracity of your claims.

Go tell your church buddies how cool you are that you have tried to convert the heathens.

Yep, because I have a set of moral, I obviously must be a religious wacko, right? I guess everything so simple in that little world you've crafted for yourself.

And stop wasting your time breaking people's posts down. It just makes you look like an a-hole.

Yep. I'm an asshole. And?

It is almost as if you THINK you are better than everyone. Get a job, get a life, and stop wasting my time.

That's a weak premise. If I thought I was better than everyone, why would I bother to post at all? If I thought I was better than everyone, why would I waste my time agruing with obviously subhuman refuse?

For curiosity's sake, what have you to say to those people who buy clearance games for the sole purpose of trading them/selling them for profit.

It's legal. It's fair (everyone has the same chance at getting the same product.. if you don't it's because of a deficiency on your part). It's captialism.

Is it selfish if you hog them all? Yes... but selfishness is low on the overall scale of wrong. Thievery ranks much much higher.

With a straight face, if you are so moral, admit that you havent taken advantage of a pricing error, cashier's mistake, etc. I will be waiting for that answer.

I have never taken advantage of a pricing error, cashier's mistake or any other dubious method of getting a good deal. If a cashier rang me incorrectly, I'll return the overage to the service desk... even if I've already left the store.
I don't order off the the mismarked website prices when they get posted.
As much as it may vex you, I'm not a hypocrite when it comes to these matters.

But seriously either TRU has to double check their pricing system on this or they;re just going to get ripped regardless of Sweeny. I'm sure people here on CAG are not the only ones to realize this is possible.

Although I have a feeling they should really start thinking about just giving some of those green tags away to anyone that makes a purchase at this point. Mad meistro and 1500 2002 football games arnt going anywhere.

Thus why I said it's a training issue. I really doubt this is going on on a wide scale... it's more likely that some undertrained employees were manning the service desk when these games were traded in.
