So, who here is excited for this game? I, for one, cannot wait. The only problem is, I have serious doubts as to whether Sqeenix will bring this gem over to the states. We should start some kind of petition or spam email Squeenix to get this game over here! Who's with me?

I played the Super Famicom version via translated ROM and loved it; if the DS version saw a US release I'd buy it in an instant. Though that seems increasingly unlikely, as there's been no word at all about it coming over here, and it's already been released something like five times without ever leaving Japan (Super Famicom, PSX as Front Mission 1st, again as part of the Front Mission History collection, on the Wonderswan Color, and I think there was a mobile phone version as well). Plus the sequels that have seen English releases haven't done terribly well. At this point we'd be lucky to get FM5, even.

Huh wha??!?! Front Mission DS? YES PLEASE!!!!!!!
Front Mission is the best squeenix series! If its anything like the super fami versions, then you wont need a translation to enjoy its mechy goodness.
Thanks for the heads up on this!

Yes, god yes, yes. I loved all the one's I've played so far, sans that one for the SNES where it was more of an action game than anything else. But like it's been said, I somehow doubt it'll come over to the states. Even though I loved FM3 and 4, they didn't sell too well overall I think. I would love to see this come over to the states and I for one will buy it on launch day.

I'd love to see this game in the States as well, but there's been at least three new FM games released in Japan since FM4, and none of them have made their way here. In other words, I'm not keeping my hopes up :/

Maybe they'll include an English translation option on the Japanese DS cartridge? (One can hope!)

I really hope this gets brought over since I thought Front Mission 4 had a lot of potential when I played it. I've heard that 4 was actually the weakest in the series though and that the other entries were far better... so I would like to see if that's true. I don't see why we wouldn't get the game though since we've generally been pretty lucky as far as DS games crossing the ocean...

We have been pretty lucky with DS games so far. I just hope Squeenix doesn't pass on this game. They do not have the best localization history.

I'd rather see a new Front Mission than the first.. I've played the ROM of it, and it's pretty good, though it's lacking in comparison to the newer ones.

I'd probably still buy it, though.

The only noticable games they passed on since SNES days are Front Mission 2, Tobal 2, Fullmetal Alchemist 3, Dragon Quest remake, and the international and final mix version of FF and KH. Square probably has a better localization history than just about any one else.

Hmm, what about Sieken Densetsu 3 and the first Front Mission on SNES? Or the incredible length of time it took for a good translation of FFV to make it here. And, since they've merged with Enix, where are the DQ5, DQ6 and Terranigma localizations?

What about Front MIssion 5?!

Notice I said since the SNES days. Now it took about 3 months for Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria to get US release.

They are still trying to trademark the name so there is still a chance.

I think it's a screenshot of the possibly forthcoming English release of Front Mission 1st DS! (Hopefully!)

Relax guys, I got this covered. I plan on winning the lottery and starting a company just for porting over Front Mission 5. I'll just port the other FM games mentioned in this thread afterwards. I'll update this thread once I win at least $100 million.

*shakes fist at Squeenix*

I'm starting to think that if Front Mission were in the hands of any other large Japanese publisher, it would be published in English. These days, Square Enix doesn't seem to understand the meaning of the term "niche market" -_-

I've played around with the Japanese Front Mission for DS, and it's pretty import-friendly, actually. Most of the game is actually in English (even the scrolling text at the beginning of the game introducing the story is in English, with Japanese subtitles). The only thing that's in Japanese is character dialogue.

Wow, what a horrible interview...

Has anyone played this and have impressions to offer? I know that it recently dropped to $19.99 at EB/Gamestop - so I figured a few people out there might have nabbed it. I'm curious to hear any feedback on the game.
