Future WiiWare?

Of course we all know that the Internet Browser will probably be the first "WiiWare" available for download.

Does anybody know of any future WiiWare releases?

I've heard of maybe a DVD upgrade, apparently it can be done.

That would be awesome! Better than the stupid color lines in WMP anyway. And I definitely would like some more Mii options.

A music player would be cool. More cool would be the ability to be on an actual network. I'd love to have the Wii just nab music files off my desktop and play them in the living room. :)

That's not likely to happen, but certainly possible given the WiFi built in.

Iwata spoke of this in the past. I always hate bringing my DS into a retail store like Best Buy to get a demo. They have to put those damn stickers on it so that employees don't bug us, but it always seems like a hassle to me.

Well, it has a dvd drive (is it not) and uses DVD sized discs, aren't the games just dvd and encoded different? If that's the case, all they need is the software to read dvds and boom.

I have no idea how it works actually :whistle2:#

Really? I usually just have mine in my pocket and pull it out when I get back to the video game section. Never had a problem.

Would be neat if they set up the Wii to broadcast demos. Would hopefully allow them to push out demos faster. (What would be even better is if GS/EB got setup with Wiis that have those same demos available in store.)

It's not a DVD-drive. It's an optical disk drive.

I'd love a link, because I am pretty certain it is a DVD-based drive, but by not offering the playback capability they didn't have to pay the DVD coalition fees.

I would think that you would just need to download an update that would allow the Wii to decode MPEG-2. Of course Nintendo would have to charge a fee for the downloads to pay for the royalties, but I would guess it could be done.

Rumor has it that more Wii Channels are on the way…secret channels that we don’t know about. Falafelkid doesn’t say that he heard a rumor, he says he has learned of them.

I have learned that there are more Wii channels on the way, other than the ones already announced. As it stands, there are nine in total if you count them all: Disc, Mii, Photo, Forecast, News, Shop, Virtual Console, the Internet Channel and the Message Board.

The DS Download Station seems like it just has to be done. So that better happen.

More Mii options, again, just seems like it HAS to be done.
The DVD playback is up in the air, IMO. I don't think this is something that they truly NEED to get out there. I would rather have a DS channel or more Mii options then DVD playback..but why not get all 3? :)

This because I'm OCD,but I want channels for my Virtual Console games. I want a "NES" channel, "SNES" channel, "N64" channel.. etc. So when I click on "TurboGrafx-16" channel.. my games come up in there instead of 1 game = 1 channel slot :(

I doubt they will have a DVD upgrade any time soon. If they do choose to do this it won't be until the redesign is released with DVD playback. and even then I would think they would rather sell new units than simply apply an upgrade

Yeah, but you're a moderator and have privileges that others don't. :)
