I couldn't find a related thread and I'm not sure how "unknown" this is but anyway...

I live in NYC and FYE's are fairly rare within a 20 mile radius of my house so whenever I go to a New Jersey mall I go to the FYE they have. In late august I was there and notice that some of the games that had $10 price tags (pre owned) said "FREE...after mail in rebate". "Meh" I said and I bought Ghostbusters for 360 because I had heard the game was good, which it was. I decided to send in the rebate about 2 weeks later with no particular hope of ever getting it back. A few days later I got an email saying my rebate was received and that they would process it. With no word for about a month, pessimistic as I am, I was sure that I was right and that I would never get said rebate. Lo and behold on the 11th of October in my mail came a $10 rebate from FYE.

Like I said I'm not sure how "unknown" this is but for those of you who didn't know...voila

The sad thing is that they spelled my last name wrong on the check so I'm not too sure if it will go through :wall:

It could be worse, it could be like the PStwo rebate I did about 3 years ago or so from FYE.

It was taking forever for them to process it, but luckily I was smart and kept copies of everything. Eventually the local store where I bought the PStwo to get the $30 rebate paid me out in cash at store level. Then a couple of days later I received what looked like a postcard from Transworld Entertainment(aka the FYE parent company), so I flip it over and there's a check printed on this postcard.

So they ended up paying me twice in the end.;)

Ahaha thats pretty awesome :applause:

What was even more awesome was the fact that I bought the PStwo using gift cards I kept getting from flipping a super cheap game from Gamestop to FYE and getting $15-16 per time I traded it.

The game: :ps2:Powerdrome Racing, which was only costing me between $.99-$1.99 per time at Gamestop.

I do too. Now the only FYE around by me that takes trades is about 20 miles away and only takes current gen stuff. The closest two FYE stores had smaller sections for a month, then had to ship out everything, then got it back, rinse and repeat until corporate figures out what the hell they wanna do at those stores.

Shame really, since the closest store was where I bought my 40gb PS3 about two years ago and mostly with credit from flipping DVD boxsets I got from Salvation Army/Goodwill.;)

Actually if you can find a Gamestop in your area that's cool with letting you trade in multiples some of the stuff from Sears was getting 4-5x more in credit at Gamestop.

Case in point LocoRoco2 for PSP. It was like $.46 a copy or something at Sears and was getting $2.50+ a copy at Gamestop.

Just recently I've been converting some of my Gamestop credit over into Best Buy credit by taking advantage of their new trade in program. An example of this was making about $10 a copy on :360:Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. It sells for $15 a copy as the vanilla version of RE5 and was trading in for $25 at BB. But there's a limit of three per title per year.

Just a couple examples, but yeah the opportunities are few and far between anymore.
