FYE Taking Wii and PS3 Pre-Orders

It's official. FYE is taking both Wii and PS3 pre-orders, the first chain I know to be doing so. Give 'em $50 (plus tax where applicable) to get on the list. At my local store, I'm first on the list for the Wii and second for the PS3. Used my store credit to secure both systems.

In case it helps the cashier find them in the system, my receipts list the items as "WII-SYSTEM PRESALE" and "PS3-SYSTEM 60G PSALE" respectively.

IMO, FYE is one of the best places to pre-order a system because no one really thinks to go there. I pre-ordered my 360 there (I was second on the list) and got the system on launch day no problem.

So get thy ass to FYE and pre-order pronto!

Did they say anything about bundles being required? With the PSP and 360, and now even for older systems not pre-ordered, it seems like they are forcing bundles on all systems now.
 
I was in my Coconuts today and thier sign said something along the lines of reserving the right to package presales into bundles. I've got the feeling the other shoe is going to drop in october/november.
 
I preordered my Wii (then known as Revolution) back in February at a Gamecrazy. They were the only one of the two in my area doing preorders. I hope my preorder still shows up. I have my slip still.

Fye's restarted it? I know they started pre-orders in Marchish for the PS3 and I got one then...but they pulled it because of the amount of anticipated systems they were going to get

I'm still waiting for the price to be confirmed. If it ends up $250 with some free VCS downloads and a free 2 or 1 GB SD card I'll probably buy it.
No one has said either about save game space for Wii. How much are we looking at for saves on Wii games?

Nope, Its for us too (Canada), its some special bundle, i just didn't put down the deposit since i want a diff colour

EB/GS has been taking preorders on games since E3 ended. They said they wouldnt have system preorders untill september.
 
I put a preorder down in May for the PS3 at FYE, but I have absolutely no confidence in it. My store is run by a jackass. Some new kid was working the day I went in, and he didn't know how to do it so he goes & gets the other guy. Big goth looking bastard. He walks up all angsty-looking (like he always looks) and just kinda points at something for the kid. I asked him a direct question about how they plan on honoring them (first come-first serve, call in order of who preordered first, etc?) and he has yet to answer me.

I swear, the only reason I went back in that place was to put the preorder down, I would never go in that store for any other reason. I'm going to do everything I can to get a PS3 from somewhere else, I'd really rather not give them the money.

If theres anyone here who can vouche for it, I can check today and tell you exactly what it says, but I probably won't be online for the next few days so it'll be a bit late by the time I tell you.
 
My thanks to all you NoVA Cags I went to my FYE and ask to preorder he said something about 7 full shipments before mine, that I'd get it in May sometime....bastards. Then he tried to sell me on a Wii yeah...thats not happening.
 
How the heck do they come up with 7 shipments? Sony has not allotted amounts to stores at this time. They don't know how many they will have to ship. Sounds like BS to me! I would not trust putting $50 on a pile of dog turd at FYE. That dog would probably be constipated or hit by a car by time I am due my pile.
 
I put in for my PS3 preorder on May 23 and I was number 150 on the list at the FYE in Manhattan (upper east side). A friend fo mine just went to the FYE in midtown and was told that they are now only guaranteeing a fourth shipment pre-order for PS3s.

As a side note, I believe the FYE on the upper east side was the only FYE in Manhattan to honor every single one of its Xbox 360 preorders on launch day. But then again, it could be because they had less preorders than other stores, I don't know.
 
No way am I giving FYE a single cent of my money. The prices that the one near me puts on DVDs and CDs are so ridiculous I hope that chain goes out of business. I'm just gonna do what I did for my PS2 on release day, stand outside a best buy at 3 AM. Thank god this time I'll have my PSP to relieve the boredom.
 
I went to preorder both systems but the lady there...who was a complete b*tch...said she didn't know anything about Wii preorders. She acted like I was completely wasting her time and kept rolling her eyes, sighing, etc. I was the only one in the store and I was smiling and being super polite. I hate FYE!
 
I went to FYE and pre-ordered a Wii. I was 3rd on the list for a Wii. And there was about 14 people for so far for the PS3. Lady was pretty nice. She was dropping hints that, "There's alot of Wii games coming out in October" And wanted me to reserve some games...I'll make my decision then.

If the Sony name sells, Sony better keep up with demand come launch day cuz I bet there's gonna be some pissed off customers at FYE when they're informed they don't have enough PS3 systems for everybody.

2 million systems for worldwide launch = lots of pissed off customers at FYE then, I'm guessing.

And I don't recall different colors for any system being available...

I'm just hoping EB/GS decides to take preorders for the Wii. I have far too much credit there to want to go elsewhere with cash, but I guess I will if I have to.

I called 2 places...one said I have to wait till the 4th-5th shipment or so...fuck
 
when gamestop takes preorders i will take off of work, cancel all my other plans and RUN to the nearest one...and pre-order the ps3 and wii.

That's in line with what I was told, except the one on the UES said they started taking preorders in March.

I pre-ordered both a Wii and PS3 a LONG time ago at GameCrazy. I had to put down $50 for each.
 
I'm still waiting to be called by Radio Shack regarding my Xbox 360 preorder back in November. I was sixth on the list.

The local Game Crazy here isn't taking preorders. Microsoft completely screwed them over with the 360 and they aren't going to be burned a second time. They do have signup sheets, but they aren't taking any money right now.
