I was gonna post this under the FYE trade in thread, but I felt like it was more then just the usual trad-in so here goes:

Well after picking up some games at TRU, I deceided to try my luck at trading some in at FYE. I already had $26.50 in credit going into the store and was hoping for more to pick up some newer games. I kept all the games in the wrapping just in case they didn't take them. So here goes...

I had gotten Maximum Chase (XB) for $5.48, Drake (XB) for $3.48, and Motor Trend Lotus Challenge (XB) for $7.49 = a total of $16.45 (before tax). I head into FYE and the cashier girl starts scanning them and she tells me she'll give me $23.50 for Maximum Chase, $15 for Drake, and $18.50 for MTLC. That was $57 (a gain of $40.55) in credit, which was fine with me. I was about to say I'd take it when the other cashier guy jumps in...he's notices that they're new and I though he was gonna stop me from trading them in, however, he did the opposite! He told me since they were new games that I could trade them in for the list price that FYE was selling them for! I aggreed and got $49.99 for Maximum Chase, $49.99 for MTLC, and $39.99 for Drake which equals a total of $139.97 of in store credit ($123.52 gained instead of $40.55). He even had a manager come over to verify it and the manager OK'd it. I was in shock! I then of course deceided now was a great time to unload all of my TRU games...boy was that a mistake. I guess that cashier guy (Kyle was his name) got in deep trouble for doing this with the GM. When I came back the GM was up there waiting for me and she was very suspicious about the 5 or 6 BRAND NEW games I had brought in, she started asking me where I got the games and if I had stole them (it was a big scene), needless to say I kept my cool and she would only let me turn the games I had left in for the used price so I traded my 2nd copy of MTLC in for the $18.50. I kept the rest of my TRU games (to catch Kyle on a different night maybe, unless he gets fired) and then went shopping at FYE. I picked up 2 new copies of RE4, 1 new copy of Mercenaries (XB), and 1 new copy of Wild Arms 3 (PS2) and still had $13.51 left over in FYE credit.

Despite the little scene the GM didn't ban me from the store or say that I could never come back and trade games in. I guess I'll just hafta do 2-3 games at a time is all.

EDIT: I actually meant to post this in the Bragging Rights forum, could a MOD please move it? Thanks! :)

personally, i wouldn't do that to "kyle" again if he already hooked you up once but got in trouble for it... but to each his own

if you have a few fye's around you, try to spread the games around, and a good rule of thumb is to open them up before you trade them in. what happened to you is definitely not the norm lol. anyhoo, good luck in your future trades. :)

You could have had a field day with that GM for accusing you of theft. I have a Coconuts and FYE in the same place and I deal with Coconuts because they are really nice. The FYE employees give everyone a hard time on legit returns and trade ins there. It's not your fault they have strange trade in values and you weren't trying to deceive them.
