CAGiversary!

I owned a first gen GBA and liked it, but the lack of a backlight led me to sell the thing before I really developed a decent game library.

Looking back, there are tons of GBA games I want to play now. I'm not really into the DS and have a brick for my few old OGB games.

So I want a GBA Micro Famicom 20th Anniversary Edition. Any CAGs own one? How do you like it?

Anyone bought one recently? I'm seeing $80-90 for a new one on eBay...

It's very shiny and sexy. It's small like iPod nano small too. Not as thin but when you hold it in your hand it's something special. It's sad that nintendo put it out so late in the gab lifespan when the ds was gaining speed.

I have the 20th famicom one and it's def worth buying. It looks nice and the screen is sharp. Plus if you need headphones or hook it too speakers there's a jack for it. Unlike the sp. Only downside is that they couldn't put the hardware for the original gameboy games. So it can only play gba carts.

But I'd say go for it if you want one. It's also nice to show off to people too.;)

Definitely try getting one. I love the Micro! I owned two Micros previously and sold them a few years back for $70 or so each. I was itching to get another Micro a few months back and I was lucky enough to get one for $20 along with 5 games from a Craigslist listing for $20 total. The system was in excellent condition, and most of the games were worth $20+ each. Definitely try checking craigslist from time to time and you may get lucky!

It's awesome!!!!! I love the GBM. Take it to work everyday and sneak in some gaming. The thing is so small, it's easy to hide it. The 20th anniversary edition is very nice, but I don't use that one. Got two other GBM's. The anniversary edition is just for display....right now, anyway. Yeah, 60-100 is the going rate on everyone I've seen. Scored mine from a guy here in the States who was looking to get rid of it. Didn't have to pay full price and didn't have to wait forever for shipment from overseas. Win win, baby!

BUT!!!!! If I had the choice of getting the 20th anniversary edition of the GBM for $80 or the backlit GBA SP for $35-40.....I'd take the SP. Thing is pretty small in it's own right and it'll play every gb game. Got me a broken hinge backlit sp and put it in a Classic NES GBA SP shell (those ain't backlit, you know). Big ole helping of awesome sauce!

Check out this Game Boy Micro thread from a while back:

I enjoy both of mine but if you really just want a GBA to play just look for a GBA SP with the Brighter Screen. Model numbers for those systems are AGS-101, they came towards the end of the GBA life and only in a few colors, light blue, black, and pink come to mind. You can also do what cochesecochese mentioned but I can't remember if there were any other side effects other than battery life.

A GBA micro I would get just for collections sake, here are both of mine.

Thanks for all the input and thanks for the old thread link nickerous, didn't notice it in my search.

I just scored a new 20th Anniv. edition through an eBay best offer of $65, not bad I'd say! I'm excited to use this as a "covert" gaming system, and finally play these GBA Castlevania games.

Micro arrived today and it's awesome! Even smaller than I expected, and definitely lighter, it's got to be the coolest gadget I own.

The only GBA games I remember playing back in the day were Mario Kart and maybe Tekken, so I've definitely got some catching up to do.

I've been on a spending spree for a week now, watching plenty of eBay auctions and lowballing it up. Here's the GBA library I've built so far:

Castlevania NES
Castlevania Double Pack
Excitebike NES
Ice Climber NES
Legend of Zelda NES
Mario Kart Super Circuit
Metroid Fusion
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World

Here's what I'm still looking for:

Capcom Classics Mini Pack
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
Grand Theft Auto Advance
Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advance
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Metroid: Zero Mission
Namco Museum
Ninja Five-O
Racing Gears Advance
Twinbee
V-Rally 3
Wario Land 4

I've got the Nes Sp which I love. I've been on a big gba kick recently. If you are looking for cheap gba games, if you stack with an edge card, gamestop's gba games are all 35% off. They're mostly pretty cheap already. I say mostly because some (the mario advance games/mario kart) still command outrageous prices.

Anyway my gba collection

Loose:
Advance Wars 2
astro boy
banjo kazooie
drill dozer
Earthworm Jim 2
F-Zero Gp legend
Golden Sun
Golden Sun 2
gradius galaxies
Guardian Heroes Advance
Gundam seed something or other
mega man & bass
metroid fusion
Monster House
ninja 5-0
Phantasy Star Collection
SD Gundam
SFA3
Shining Soul
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (not the good tmnt game, but it's not bad)
wario land 4

cib:

Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy V
Gunstar Super Heroes
Kloonoa 2
Pokemon emerald
Spyro eternal nigh (sealed!)
Super mario advance:SMB3

Won one on ebay earlier tonight for $40 shipped. Regular black one, decided the famicom one was too rich for my blood.

I have a GBAM and I got mine for 15$ at a pawn shop (had to buy a charger separately which I got one for 5$). I have the silver micro and it currently has a blue-ish wave faceplate. I love this thing on how tiny it is and I take it with me when I'm on the go.
