OK, I picked up my PSP from Game Crazy, but I also ordered it from Best Buy this morning when I heard about the $20 off because I really wanted the BB warranty, and if I've got any dead pixels they'll be able to help. I'm not sure if I can wait the week to play PSP, so does anyone know if I can return the PSP I bought from Best Buy to Game Crazy? Do they keep track of serial numbers?

On something like this, I'm sure they do. But on something like this, since it isn't software and it isn't broken, even if it is open you should probably be able to return it to GameCrazy.

Well, if it's any help, I have a few dead pixels on my PSP I bought from Gamecrazy and they wouldn't do anything about it. Told me to take it up with Sony.

I think on hardware they actually keep track of serial numbers. IIRC, they scan the actual serial number on the system when ringing it up (I think they did this when I bought a PSTwo and my GBA SP). Thus, I don't think you would be able to return a different unit to the store, even with a receipt.

I called right before I clicked "complete order" at Best Buy. They told me the same thing.

Yes. They print it up right on the receipt.

Are they allowed to do that this soon? I thought you had 14 days on hardware.

Ha
Good luck returning it to gamecrazy. Yes, we do track serial numbers, and they are going to give you a hell of a hard time with a hardware purchase like that. At least at hour store, our DM has been hounding us to minimize returns. I think it's a nationwide GameCrazy thing where we have to be nazi's about returns now. They have a warranty at GC for the PSP, but it's like $30. They should cover the dead pixels, cause it is a manufacturer's defect, not something you caused..

I guess I understand their tighter return policy, especially thinking of all the times I have to tell someone that, no, they can't return this xbox they bought 2 weeks ago even though nothing's wrong with it except they're bored with it and thought we rent out systems for free.. Too many people try to pull shit like that at our store with systems and new games, so we have to be really strict with returns.

Even Kmart and Walmart keep track of serial nos. iirc.

I saw it happen back in 2001 when i got my gamecube in the first week that it came out.

This is probably happening because of all the folks that have tried modding their system, fubar'ing it and buying a new system and doing a swap.
