For those of you who know and those of us who would like to know, can you guys give details on the following questions?

1) If you get "Banned" for the dreaded flipping (please discuss flipping on the other thread) - is it for that store only, or for ALL stores?

2) If you get Banned, are you banned for life, for a period of time, etc.?

3) If you get Banned, are you banned from trading, banned from that particular deal, banned from buying, banned from renting, banned from even coming in the store?

4) If you get Banned, is it like with a casino where they say "Don't ever come back and if you do we're calling the cops", or is it a simple "my computer says I can't buy/sell/rent to you because your account is flagged"?

5) Does the GR Ban you, or do they warn you and then Ban you?

6) How do they decide to Ban you? Is it the Manager knows you and says "I've had enough, you're banned" - or is it corporate Blockbuster computers cross-referencing account activity, then who knows...one day you walk in to rent Space Balls and they go "Oh yeah, by the way, corporate was checking up on their accounts and they don't like what you did 2 months ago... the computer here says you've been banned."?

I wasn't too concerned before, because I generally limit my activity to legitimately bringing games I've gotten at other stores to take advantage of GR deals (as opposed to buying at one GR, selling at another - which probably really ticks them off). However, with recent postings from people who bought a game and resold two weeks later, I'm starting to get a little concerned about GR going crazy.

Was wondering what exactly is involved with all this Banning noise I have heard lately.

Thanks but I read that whole dumb thread last night and these questions were not addressed. I wanted answers associated with Game Rush/Blockbuster banning you. I don't want to discuss flipping do's/don'ts/how's/why's/etc.

(If you had read above you would have noticed I specifically referred to that thread)

You can only get banned if the Manager suspects shady dealings from you or if your account is audited. Usually it is audited if you have more than $500.00 in you account, or if your account has a significant increase of funds in your account. Pre orders and pre sells will not effect your account. If you are banned, you just cannot trade games anymore. Some managers will let you rent, but sometimes they will not let you even do that if you are banned. You are allowed to buy from BB. If the Manager on duty has it out for you, he or she, might even ban you from comming in the store. If you are a frequent FLIPPER, most of the time you will piss off a manager and they will ban you until further notice, or ban you until the deal is over. They do this by flagging your account. You can spend your credits, but can no longer add credits or trade. GameRush still has alot of bugs to work out with their deals. They are just too good. Hopefully they will get to the point where they will make money and please their customers. Lets just hope they don't ass rape you on trade-ins like EB does in the future.

Hey,

Thanks a lot for that full explanation. I have been wondering for some time what the "banning" situation involved.

Also, when you mentioned the auditing of your account (which is triggered by $500 credit), does this mean if a person always gets their store credit on gift cards they are somewhat "safe" from the auditing process?

The thing is, jdangerc's explanation is about as close to a definative answer as you are going to get, because the metrics by which stores decide how and when to cut people off are almost all entirely subjective.

There is no absolute way to prevent getting banned, because there is not absolute cutoff numbers or scenarios that lead up to one getting banned.
