Gamecube Games for the Wii

CAGiversary!
I was going to get a 360 but my money isnt right for it. My mom suggests I buy a Wii because they are cheaper. After some thought, I thought that was a great idea. So now I am Wiiward bound (if I can find one in my area). I missed the Gamecube train but I was a fan of a few titles (like B Wars). Along with my Wii titles, i'd like to get a few GC games. Any suggestions?

Wind Waker, Smash Bros, Mario Kart Double Dash if you haven't played the DS version (which I think is superior). Metal Gear Twin Snakes is cool if you haven't played the original one and like the MGS series.

Eternal Darkness is a great horror game.

The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker is a ton of fun. Get Twilight Princess for the Wii though, the controls work very well.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the best game of the previous generation of consoles, but again get the Wii version because the Wii controls are great and you can even use a Gamecube controller if you don't like them.

Skies of Arcadia Legends and Tales of Symphonia are both great RPGs.

You should be able to find Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 for pretty cheap, there both very good except for the on foot parts in 3.

Super Mario Sunshine is somewhat disappointing for a Mario game, but you should still pick it up since it's only $20.

Finally, pick up Super Smash Brothers Melee to keep you busy until Brawl hits in February.

If there is a Wii version then I wouldn't get the gamecube version unless you just really love the series (or the wii version stinks).

I would look at the gamecube games that aren't on the Wii and aren't announced for the Wii.

Here are some Gamecube unique games
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Viewtiful Joe (1 or 2)
F-Zero GX
Wave Race: Blue Storm
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Beyond Good & Evil
Star Fox Adventures
Super Monkey Ball 2 (super monkey ball wii isn't that good)
Star Fox Adventures
Also Star Fox Assault. I still enjoy the heck out of that game.

Others I don't think were mentioned:
Donkey Konga
Donkey Konga 2
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Fire Emblem Path of Radiance
Luigi's Mansion
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Pikmin
Pikmin 2

Super Mario Sunshine
Metroid Prime 1 (avoid 2 like the plague)
Animal Crossing
Zelda: Wind Waker
Tales of Symphonia
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Pikmin 2
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Eternal Darkness
Skies of Arcadia
Beyond Good & Evil

Timesplitters Future Perfect - I'm a huge fan of the TS franchise and this is the best version of the series, the 4 player action is very good and the computer isn't cheap as in the other versions. Some modes are insanely hard, but it keeps me coming and I still play it to this day.

Soul Calibur 2 - Best SC2 extra character in Link. One of the best games of all time, very deep fighter.

Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4 - REmake is very good, and I suggest playing that one first before touching RE4 because you will not go back. RE4 is on the Wii and is actually better with a ton more extras than the GC version and the controls are amazing.

Animal Crossing - Fun diversion from more serious games.

Prince of Persia - Very fun with very good controls, worth a pickup if you haven't tried it on other consoles.

Pikmin and Pikmin 2 - Not everyone likes this so be warned, still a good game that will remain a classic for years to come.

Super Smash Bros Melee - Get this before you get Brawl, even then not necessary, it is a very fun game that wil hold your attention forever.

Just a few of my favorites

Star Fox Adventures
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Tales of Symphonia
Beyond Good and Evil
Super Mario Sunshine
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Metroid Prime
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
Viewtiful Joe
Resident Evil
Eternal Darkness
Skies of Arcadia
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Yeeesh...my least favorite gc game
Yeah, I had thought about leaving it out. The song selection sucks, but there are different modes not available in the first one. But, yeah, the two other Konga games are vastly superior. Wish we'd gotten Donkey Konga 3 here in the States.

It's going to depend on what you're looking for really. My list would include:

Metroid Prime 1 & 2- The first one is preferred, but the second is better than a lot of people give it credit for.

Pikmin 1 & 2- The second one is probably my favorite GC game, though you can't go wrong with either one.

Skies of Arcadia Legends, Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, & Baten Kaitos Origins- if you like RPGs, all 5 of these are worth it.

Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker- This is a great game, that unfortunately has some flaws that keep it from being the greatest Zelda ever. Even so, it's near the top of the list.

Obviously, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., & Mario Sunshine are all good, but probably worth holding off in favor of the Wii sequals. Unless you're a big fan of all these series(like I am), but if you were I guess you'd probably already have had a GC. Also, get Resident Evil 4, but get the Wii version for the better controls. Otherwise, just about every other game mentioned in this thread would be worth it as well.

consult wombat on this one, he's a big gc fan, and if he says buy wind waker, listen to him, I own it and it and is da fungly ungaly doo!

Double Dash can go to hell. Worst racing game I've ever played. And all of the tracks end so damn quickly.

I liked doubledash alot. Having four people race on two carts was really really fun. Here is my list in order of priority:

Smash Bros. Melee
Wind Waker
Metroid: Prime
Mariokart
Mario SUnshine
Pikmin
Prince of Persia
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Starfox adventures

There's been plenty of good suggestions.

Someone mentioned it, but I would like to further Donkey Kong Junglebeat. You play it with the Bongos, but it's not a "music game" where you just try to hit the notes like Konga/Guitar Hero/DDR/any other music game. It's actually a side scrolling game where you beat on the bongos to control DK. It's a LOT of fun, and I think a lot of people missed it after Konga2 came out because Konga2 wasn't that great and certainly not that much different from Konga.
