GameFly - Rejoin as old status - lvl 3

This is a deal for anyone that has been contemplating restarting their membership.

I used to be a member a few years back for over two years.

I just rejoined yesterday and checked back today and I'm at level 3 and had received $5 GameFly bucks.

Wow, I didn't expect my old status to remain after rejoining after being on a few years hiatus.

Is that normal?

Do you think they can take it away after I've already received it?

EDIT - Oh yeah, it says I still get 10% off all game purchases.

Nice to know, I was considering getting rid of my Gamefly since I haven' been using it much, been mostly playing COD & Dragon Age, both of which I own. I was just worried that if I decided to get it back again I'd have to start all over again or if I'd still have the 10% discount.

They take away my status whenever I cancel when there's a drought of games. If somebody else confirms this, I may join up again.

This is directly from GF's website:

When you cancel your account, your GameFly Rewards Level are reset to zero (0). Any GameFly Dollars you had will remain in your Account until they expire, but all percent-off discounts you had accrued are lost upon cancellation.
Once you reactivate your account, you will start accruing GameFly Rewards again.

So, either they have recently changed this and not updated their FAQ, or the OP got lucky.
awesome deal!! i am in for 3
That crap is just not funny anymore.

Where's your creativity?

On topic, I kept my old status as well. Thought it was normal.

They reset my status too. Maybe things have changed recently?

Don't think so. I resigned up 2 days before Christmas and everything was reset as it has done in the past.

Dunno what happened...I hope it stays though, it was nice to see the old benefits still there after nearly two years of not being a member:

Congratulations on your retention of Level 3 status. I'm another recent returnee. (I had the service for most of 2007 and just rejoined on January 12th.) Would you mind letting me know how the service is for you now that you rejoined?

I was getting great service in 2007 and only left because my son was born and my time to game shrunk greatly. Since rejoining, the service seems much weaker than before. I rejoined on Tuesday the 12th with 7 current titles and 29 unreleased titles in my queue. Of the seven current titles: 3 had Medium availability, 3 had Low availability, and one was "Available Now." Based on my previous experience I assumed that the "Available" title would ship Wednesday and that one of the "Medium" titles would ship by Friday or Saturday.

Instead the "Available" title switched to "High" and as of the end of Saturday the 16th, NOTHING had shipped yet, so I moved the unreleased "Dark Void" to number 1 in hopes that I could snag a copy of it.

On monday, I received a shipped notice for Dark Void (which was odd since it was a postal holiday). It is now Wednesday the 20th and I still have an unshipped slot with the same 7 current games in my queue (3 M's, 3 L's, and an H status). Is this now normal for Gamefly? I don't expect to get my #1 game on the first day, but I would think that at least one of the Medium or High availability games would have been shipped by now.

EDIT: one more stupid question- When looking at your Gamefly queue, should there be a some sort of visual indicator for my unshipped slot in the "Games I Have Out" section or am I just misremembering? (i.e. Something like on Netflix that simply says "Waiting to ship your next available game" which indicates you have an open slot)

It happened to me, too OP. I haven't had Gamefly since '08 and just now got it back in December and it was nice to see those 5 gamefly dollars begging to be used when the year end sale rolled around.
