GameFly Soul Calibur 4 PS3 47.99 Keep it Price

CAGiversary!
I'm new to GameFly, so I'm not sure if this is the norm... but there's no way this copy is used as it's been shipped before the release date!

The keep it price listed for Soul Calibur 4 is 47.99! Free shipping since I'm a member... not bad at all!

I put the 360 version in my queue and it's showing up as "Not for Sale".

(I also picked up "the club" for 17.99 (-$5 with a new member coupon, so I actually paid around $14 after tax).

Technically it is a used copy. "Keep it" means you can buy the rental copy that is shipped to you, and then they send you the box/instructions/etc. Since GameFly sends out discs only, it would mean that they've already cracked these open and are sending you disc only when you rent it. Of course since this game just came out, you'd probably get getting a mint copy, but it won't be sealed.

Also, this isn't really a deal since you have to be a member of GameFly to do this.

Well, that doesn't stop people from posting deals to other places that you need some kind of membership for.

This is pretty standard of Gamefly. Any new releases are pretty much that price from the get go. They are a great place to buy from because the discs are usually in great condition and if you are a member they just ship the case and manual to you for free. Case and manual are always mint because they don't send them out. I have bought a few things from gamefly in the past and its always worth it.

Is it possible to use a trial account (10 day on their site or a free 30 day code) and still take advantage of the "Keep It" feature?

Yes.

the thing about the free trial account is, u would still have to pay for shipping if you decide to go for the keep it price. they will charge u to ship the case and manual to you.

Yea... it's not "sealed", but considering the circumstances, I feel like I just got $12 off the new price for a copy that is basically... unused. I was going to buy it anyway... this just sealed the deal for me to do it since GF has a habit of letting it's "for sale" games come and go on a whim.
How's that new member coupon? I just signed for gamefly and didn't get any. =(
I got the coupon a couple weeks ago. (Maybe two weeks after I signed up for the Xbox live promo.) I never had a an account before that. It came in an email and showed up automatically when I went to purchase the game, I didn't even have to type it in.

just an FYI. All titles at Gamefly are priced like this. You can see their prices without renting them just click on the game you want and it will list a keep it price.

Another perk for those who keep membership. They have GF rewards which after 3 months gives you a 5 dollar credit to go to keep it or the store. After 6 months they give you a 5 dollar credit again but give you 5% off as well. After a year they give you 10 percent off and 5 dollars every three months. scIV for me on the site is 43.19

What's nice pROvIs is that this is a pre-release title, already on it's way to my door as of 8 am this morning and shipped for free. Official release date being tomorrow...

20% off (-12 bucks from 59.99) ain't bad - talk about a unadvertised membership perk!

If I had a coupon or their 6/12 month membership discount as you mention .... I would have been ridiculously happy.

Right now I'll settle for pleasantly surprised. :)

I mean... how common is this? Have other pre-release games gone for sale as "used" for under retail on the day before release?

I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I can't recommend GameFly enough. At first it was a bit hard getting used to the idea of renting rather than buying but at this point it has saved me quite a bit of money on titles I would have bought and traded in 2-3 weeks later. You just have to start thinking different to take advantage of it. Things like DMC4 or Lost Odyssey, even though you really want them you rent them because at least for me they are good for a play through and thats about it. Games you are unsure about you rent and if you really like it you use the keep it option.

The only downside and reason I don't purchase all games through gamefly is they don't usually get collectors editions and there are a few instances where I would like the Collectors package. The second reason is although they are fairly fast with shipping it is rare you get it on release date. It is fairly typical to get it the friday after the release date.
