Just got something in my email about this. I was invited as a "long time member" to try it out, but I assume most everyone can do it.
Here are "highlights":
GameFly Trade-In Program Guidelines:
• Prices offered for trade-in games are valid for 10 days.
• We can accept up to five games in each trade-in order.
• We can not accept more than three copies of the same game.
• Trade-In Credits are only applicable to GameFly monthly membership fees.
• Trade-In Credits will be deposited in your account as soon as your order has been inspected and accepted. Credits will automatically be applied to your next monthly billing.
• Member is responsible for all shipping and packaging costs associated with trade-in orders.
• All items submitted for trade-in must be in good working condition, and be packaged together with the original disc, case, and manuals.
• All trade-in items in a single order must be shipped together in one package with the packing slip included.

If you could apply the credit to buying games, this might be more interesting. Apologies if this has been posted before.

That's pretty damn cool if I do say so myself, though it seems to me you should be able to mail disks to them in much the same fashion (that is, in sleeves) as they mail disks to you.

I would rather use the trade for monthly fees. Hell just think Find 10 cheap games locally for 5 or 10 bucks for a year of gamefly.

100 bucks for a year would kick ass

i doubt everyone can do this probally the only ones who got the email cause i dont see anything on the stie about it...i dont even see where you could see prices on trade ins on the site.

I wonder if it was a scam email. Why would gamefly want use games when they are sitting on 1000s of used games now

It only goes to paying off your membership fee. Nuts to that. :( If they gave the OPTION for the membership fee or GameFly Dollars, that'd be nicer.

still dont see why they would buy peoples games when they have an unlimited amount of games now

+ im sure they wont give jack on them if they sell a game for 30 you probally be lucky to get 10

I think it's good that you must include the original case & manual. That's what you get when you buy their regular used games so why change it for the games you trade in. If you want to trade in a disc only, then go to GameStop.

I did a little checking, Need for Speed: Most wanted for the 360 brings 10 bucks.

c this is why i dont think this is for everyone. I can log into my account and look up this game BUT nowhere does it say Trade or send it in to get 10 bucks

would be neat if you could find some cheap games and end up getting a year for around 120 to 150 (mostly half what it cost)

do you just log into gamefly or is it another site

When I log in, its one of the tabs at the top, last one to the right of the screen, with the words new in bright red.

I just logged in and didn't see it either. Maybe they're testing to see if anyone will go for a trade-in program and selecting some customers for the test?

yeap it must be very limited test market. i dont see it on mine either. I got a butt load of ps2 games i would love to dumpped off if the prices were right

I really hope the "keep it" games aren't going to be the scratched, torn, chewed up pieces of shit you people start sending in for credit. A nice thing about keeping gamefly games is that they'd send you the pristine box and manual, since they just took the game out for rental purposes.

Yeah, now that you bring it up, I'm worried about this too. Especially since it's obvious that GF no longer cares about the condition of thier games. Switching from the old mailers to the new netflix style ones with no support equals only 1 thing=assloads of broken games. They have been getting steadily shitter and shitter over the last few months. I wonder if there has been a changing of the guard in management or something. Hopefully, the trade-in prices will be so low, no one will use it. Then again, people trade (or give away, your choice) LOTS of games to Gamestop, so... I'd be surprised if this ever goes fully live. If they have any screening process at all, they'll probably spend more money mailing games back to people than they'll make off the ones that are worth a crap.
Its proly a test market. I'm against this since you can use brightspot.tv to get $10 off your bill a month already. Now if you could trade in for gamefly dollars that would be cool.

http://brightspot.tv
but brightspot only gives you 10 bucks a month. Hell if you found a deal you could get a whole year of gamefly free dirt cheap

GameFly Trade-In Program Guidelines:
• Member is responsible for all shipping and packaging costs associated with trade-in orders.

I think THAT line above just sums up what will happen if your games don't pass their muster. Either you A) pay up to ship them back to you or B) they keep them.

I know that may seem a bit shady, but isn't that what happens with Wherehouse,Secondspin and the TW sites that take trades? I'm just curious as I've never done anything but IN STORE trades.

it would have to say

You have to pay for return shipping or we keep the games.

Or they will be sued. I used to deal with alot of compaines in the past like BRE and they had in type something like

if everyone isnt included with the game you either pay shipping back or we keep the games ... I never had a place try to rip the games off if it doesnt say it there is no way they can keep your games without getting sued

seen this on a few other sites and it seems around 10 to 12 bucks (XBOX 360,. wii, ps3 games) is the top they pay. Most PS2 games fetch 3 to 5 bucks )

so its not really worth tradeing if those prices are right

They won't have to state it. They have your CC info. You have preauthorized them to charge it. They can just automatically charge you the return shipping. Or they could send an email stating something like "You can pay X to have your rejected games sent back to you or they will be 'disposed of'." Something like that would cover their asses since they are already stating that the customer is responsible for ALL shipping costs. I just hope they have higher standards than GS or Hasting's on trade-ins. MUCH higher. At those prices, the cost of shipping the games to them alone would be a deal breaker, especially since they limit it to 5 games per shipment.

yea they can charge your CC for shipping back BUT i doubt even an email would work about keeping the games. It would have to say it on the webpage cause all you have to do is say

I NEVER GOT THE EMAIL and boom gamefly is #$#$##

Ditto, I don't get this. Now you have to wonder if you are going to get the basically new case or the type of crap you see at GS if you keep the game? At least before if you had the disc in your hands, even if it had some scratches at least you get to see it up front. Now it may turn out to be a crap shoot what case condition you get.
