Gamersgate sale until April 4th

Yeah, I got Civ 4 complete for cheaper from Steam a while back, but I think I'll pick up King's Bounty. Maybe Gothic 3 as well.

Looks like Get Games has King's Bounty: The Legend for $3.25 instead of $4.97.

No idea how the purchase process works from Get Games, I've never used them before. But I assume they're trustworthy, it's from the same company / people as the Eurogamer website, which is pretty big.

As far as DRM, it can't be any worse than GamersGate which has activation, Securom, and an authenticating custom downloader that you have to use even to reinstall your games from backup (it "encrypts" the installers to make sure you have to check in with GamersGate on every reinstall).

But at that price I might have to try out Seven Kingdoms Conquest. It's supposed to be horrible, but I'd like to see what they did with the franchise. GamersGate lists it as being "DRM Free," which means the downloader will still be required, and it will still encrypt the installer, but at least it won't also install Securom.

Does anyone know if these games come with serials that can be registered on steam?
I already own Civ 4 and Beyond the Sword, just want Colonization, but might as well get the whole thing if I can.

Sorry, none of those listed above will work.

But thanks for asking, as you made me check the list for new titles and Mount & Blade has been added since the last time I looked. Got to go dig up my retail copy.

edit: Don't know if Ggate keys work.

Wow, cool news!

It let me register the M&B key I bought from D2D, even though it's a completely different format from the one shown (4 sets of 4 characters). I guess that makes sense, since it also worked with the Taleworlds activation server when I activated their demo.

Next time you download something from GG, wait for the setup program to start, and then check the temporary folder that the GG files were downloaded to. The entire install folder will be decrypted, and you can copy that to wherever you want for hassle-free reinstallation. The decrypted files will still be there as long as the setup program is running, so let it run while you copy and then you're free to do with it as you please afterward.
