(( Heya gang! I looked around first before posting this deal... 'couldn't find any mention of this. If i'm missing it, then go ahead and lock :))

GameRush stores just started a new promo the other day: you can get a free $5 GC for every $50 GC you purchase. For those planning on purchasing their PS3's ( or Wii's ) @ GR, don't forget to take advantage of this:

*Purchase $650.00 in gift cards; receive $65 bonus on a separate GC.

(( PS3 @ $599.99 + 8.25% ( California tax ) = $649.49 ))

*Purchase the PS3 w/$650 GC, and use the $65 bonus towards a game :)

...or....

*Purchase $250.00 in gift cards; receive $25 bonus on a separate GC.

(( Wii @ $249.99 + 8.25% = $270.61 ))

*Purchase the Wii w/$250.00 + $20 from bonus card... (( save $20 on the system; and have $5 left over...for ice cream ....or a movie rental :D ))

'Not bad, hmmm. 'Just keep in mind, GR probably won't be getting as many units as , say, BB, or CC, or Frys, or TRU.

I can see this now... long line for people waiting to get their PS3 or Wii and here I am pulling out my 100 gift cards to scan and pay for it...

Last time they did this I got the bonus when I bought gift cards with gift cards...even when I pointed out to them the stupidity of that...

I tried to do this last time they had the promo, but I got the email before they actually started the promo... and I didn't have much GR credit then. And of course, now I've spent almost all my GR credit in the interim when I could have scored a shitton of $5 gift cards.

They really let you do this?

Amazingly, yes. I went in with a $50 GC and asked for 2 twenties and a ten (for different holiday gifts.) The sales clerk pointed out that do to the promotion, I'd get an extra $5. i said that didn't seem right, and pointed to the sign, which stated NOT VALID ON PURCHASES WITH CREDIT. The cashier just shrugged. Later on I took a bunch of smaller GC's up and bought a $200 one, and again received a bonus $20. I think at one point I even traded in 10 of the $5 free cards and got another bonus, but I can't be too sure.

I got like $200 in extra gift cards last year, but I was spending a lot more at Blockbuster then. I bought gift cards for everyone for Christmas, plus a ton of games, plus I was renting around 5 movies a week at $4 a pop. This year I'm renting the same amount of movies but I'm using my Blockbuster online rentals to get them for free from the store. Still, this deal will be good to stock up on a few gift cards for the holidays. At the very least, you can save $5 a pop on Wii and PS3 titles.

I did this for the 360 last year, too. You really do have to evaluate the value of your time because I think it took about 20 minutes to complete the transaction (buying gift cards and purchasing).

But, as a true CAG'er, I would do it again...
