Games for Windows Live Deal of the Week: Civilization 4 Complete for $9.99

Awesome game, awesome deal. I expect most people interested in this game already got it from one of the other sales, but if you don't. YOU SHOULD GET IT! This game is really really good.

What kind of DRM is on this and does this include EVERYTHING possible? I think there was an earlier complete package a while back that was missing the latest expansion or something. Just wanted to check and make sure as I am interested in this.

Back on the DRM question...gfwl? Securom? cd key check? etc

Thanks!

Wow! At that price, I almost want to buy it again. :D

I've got the disc version. Might be worth the $9.99 to not have the disc requirement, which is highly annoying.

As long as the mods work with this version, it's a steal.

The latest Beyond The Sword patch (3.19) removes the DVD check from Civ 4. Unfortunately the latest patch for Colonization still includes a disc check.

Apparently the DVD complete edition (the US one with Colonization) includes DRM-free versions of everything, including Colonization, which I assume means no disc check. But digital versions can be all over the place (Impulse is DRM free, Direct2Drive has Securom activation), so I wouldn't assume the GFWLGoD version is free and clear of DRM.

I picked this last time it was on sale on Steam (can't remember how much I paid for it though, anybody remember?). Anyways, I want to pick it up for my sister, think I should jump on this or just wait for the inevitable Steam sale, which will happen, Civ V is coming out (or the xmas sale).

If they added Achievements I would get this (already have it on Steam). But it's just the regular Civ 4 complete, not updated for GFWL.

I picked this up a couple weeks ago when it was on sale for 19.99. This is a great game! It is definitely worth the 9.99!

Reading the thread before posting is a wonderful thing. Especially the post right above yours.

Does this game not run in Windows 7? I downloaded the demo to try out and see how it would look/run on my pc and I can't even get the demo to work. It pops up a window saying there's known compatibility issues and has me search for a solution but it brings up nothing. Then states it is unable to start the demo ( or something like that ).

Did they ever update the demo? The game was originally released pre-Vista so I could see the demo having difficulties with 64-bit Win 7. I've got civ complete (thru steam) and like the guy above have had no problems in Windows 7 (even on a crummy laptop w/ low specs)

Remember folks, you can use MS Points to buy this. So if you purchased a 1600 point card for $15 instead of the retail $20, you'll end up getting Civ IV Complete for $7.50 instead of $10. Just did this myself.
