Just wondering wat games sold you to buying an XBOX???

I for 1 thought the XBOX was goin to crash & burn within a yr. after lanuch. Thinking it's just a PC in console skin.

Long Story!

The game that sold me 1st. was Dead or ALIVE 3. I played this once @ a friends house. and it was just over. Gettin the system just for this game alone was worth it IMO! A year passed and I hated FPS games (wasn't a fan til NOW). And there wasn't any decent RPG's. SO I sold the system.

Fast Forward...

Summer of 2004' Seeing all the neato Team Ninja XBOX only games is wat brought me back. DOA Beach Volly Ball, DOA ultimate & Ninja Gaiden! I bought the system agian & now owned all 3 games.

I wasn't really in love with the XBOX yet, until I tryed XBOX live w/ Halo 2 on my bro system, now I could see why he stays up all night screaming & yelling @ the TV..LOLZ! I soon got addicted to Live & Halo 2.
XBOX LIVE is fucking Tite! for Bring online gaming mainstream!

XBOX live is keeping me here to stay! & gettin me to buy XBOX 2.

What sold me on the xbox is that it is a PC in a console skin. I can use it to stream media from my pc to my tv and it looks better next to my tv than a PC would and was cheaper than building another PC I dont really need.

What finally sold me was Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball (*shrug* I like the DOA characters and was amused by the promises Tecmo made about the game, about 2/3rds of which never materialized) and the promise of games like True Fantasy Live Online.

So, uhmn... yeah. That turned out well. There's been a few Xbox games I _have_ enjoyed (Crimson Skies I think is my absolute favorite), at least.

actually, I happened to be looking through the xbox library yesterday, trying to find a game or two that would sell the system to me.

I play almost exclusively turn based or strategy rpgs(not action rpg), and survival horror games. Both of which are represented very well on the PS2. I didnt find anything.

I bought my Xbox a year after its release with Jet Set Radio Future, which I was dying to play. I was also hotly anticipating Panzer Dragoon Orta. I picked up Halo when I got the Xbox because JSRF was out of stock that day. Turned out to be my most played Xbox game, especially when I was living away at school.

None. I already had my PS2 and GC, and I thought I might as well have all three systems, so I bought my Xbox.

I already had the other two systems but really wanted to have LIVE as I had never touched online gaming before. I really just wanted to snap some necks in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow online. I figured I would never touch Halo but now it is easily my favorite game.

That ones easy, Halo. Waited a year and a half to buy xbox and the whole time Halo was winking at me. Man that game sweet. Probably my most played console game of all time.

I couldn't wait a few months for first KotOR to be ported to the PC, so I bought an Xbox a week or two after KotOR came out for Xbox, along with Halo because everyone thought it was such a great game.

I was not sold TO my xbox. I pwn my xbox, it does not pwn me.

That said, it was multiplatform games that did it for me EorN,NFL2k5,BGandE,SSX3... the list goes on and on. They just looked so much better. I used to be a Ps2 fanboy but the day I got my xbox fanboyism died. Xbox is just a better machine and a better library for me. Ill pick up a Ps2 to play some of the rpgs and other exclusives I love, but Ive managed without one since October. I doubt I could live that long without an xbox.

Let me "bump" that thought. If anything Ninja gaiden sold me to it and after collecting some more dust it will be me who sells it back :D

GAMES That SOLD U to THE XBOX

Well, it was Halo: Combat Evolved, Dead or Alive 3, Project Gotham Racing and Sega's support for the system...

I also remember I wanted to get Shenmue 2... after being such a big fan of the 1st.

Funny thing is I havn't picked it up yet. I should, since it's only like $10 Bones...

Well I got my xbox for free from a cousin, but the games that convinced me that I wanted an X-Box in the first place were in no order: Fable, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Ninja Gaiden, KOTOR, Jet Set Radio Future. Ironically I've still yet to play Ninja Gaiden, one of these days I'll pick it up.

Absolutely nothing. My good friend Monsta Mack got it for me for Xmas since I already had a Cube and a PS2. At the time the only real worthwhile game was CVS2 on Live. Halo came about 4 months later, and it still played through half the game before I was finally convinced it was something good. Fast forward to this past November, and Halo 2 single handedly saves my Xbox Live account, go figure.

Although realistically, I could probably live without it, as the only exclusives I really like are Halo 1 and 2 and Rallisport Challenge 2. Anything else I have is good but I could have lived without or gotten for PS2.

I personally didn't buy my Xbox for any particular game. I didn't even have a game when I got the system and later I went and tried to pickup a copy of DOA 3. However, the store clerk asked if I already had Halo. I of course said no, and he proceeded to tell me it wouldn't be right to get DOA 3 and not Halo. In the end I didn't really care... so I bought Halo.

Same for me. Gotta have them all.

I think the biggest draws for me on XBox were DOA 3, WWE Raw (which wasn't that great) and UFC Tapout (I loved the UFC game on DC, but none of the others have been as good IMO, except for Pride FC which uses the same engine) Plus I'm a nutjob that buys almost every system

DOA, Multiplatform titles with better enhancements (Max Payne, Fatal Frame, etc.) or Live support, a crap load of racing games, KOTOR, Halo and Sega's big support (even though that probably won't carry over to the XBox 2). The live function is what keeps me hooked to it, but considering only 20% of XBox owners have Live I'm sure theres other reasons out there.

I have to say Star Wars, the fact that it looked like it would get more Star Wars games than the PS2 would made me go to the Xbox.

Kotor, Halo, and Morrowind were the games that convinced me to get an Xbox (I usually need 3 solid games announced and 2 out before I'll get a system).

Fuzion Frenzy, then Halo. never liked PS2 or GC. i always been an X fan. i own almost 40 games. i did tho loose some interest for my xbox and started being a hardcore PC gamer but then i playing with my friend on live.... made me love Xbox all over again.

Mostly Top Spin and Halo. More TS than Halo actually. The tennis tournaments at my friend's house got pretty intense, so I knew I needed to practice on my own.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but it's hard to find a more unique strategy experience than Kingdom Under Fire. Give it a try if you haven't already. It's only about $19.99 new.

great topic.

Got my Xbox around Xmas 2002. Morrowind, ToeJam & Earl 3 (too bad it sucked) made me want it. Halo was more of a bonus.

Another huge factor was the Controler-S. I wouldn't have bought an Xbox at that time if the Controller-S hadn't come out, the orinigal controller was horrible.

Another factor that sold me was that all multi-platfrom games were better on Xbox, so my PS2 has mostly collected dust since.

I bought it at launch, I love all video game systems, so I thought I would give it a try...picked up halo and oddworld at launch
