How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of a game (per system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?

the console, power cable, av cable, and controller; sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3ds xl trade would be console, charger, stylus. Some have reported being charged refurb fee for a stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Anybody found any good flips to BB with the new B2G1? Lightning fried my modem and we’ve used all of our data so I’m just sitting here watching the pinwheel spin waiting for the B.B. trade-in center pages to load.
unfortunately BB values just got their occasional big nerf. im actually struggling to find movers worth driving there for

Not sure if it's new or not, but the Retron5 is $99.99 new in-store and online. I just picked one up for $10 after 90k worth of points. Really glad I didn't get one last week for $106 during the eBay 20% sale.

Building a list of Boomerang Games. This list assumes that you are able to find 3 games that are the same price. Obviously, if you don't do that you lose profit margin. Values reflect Elite Pro on both purchase and trade in.

NCAA Basketball 2010 Xbox 360 Buy for 18.48 Trade in for 25.50

NCAA Football 14 Xbox 360 Buy for 23.75 Trade in for 28.90

Black Ops 2 for Xbox 360 Buy for 13.2 Trade in for 13.60

Madden 17 for 360 Buy for 18.48 Trade in for 25.50

College Hoops 2K8 Buy for 13.2 Trade in for 18.70

GTA V for 360 Buy for 13.2 Trade in for 13.60

Minecraft 360 edition Buy for 10 Trade in for 13.60

NBA 2K18 Early Tip off edition for 360 Buy for 20 trade for 25.50

FIFA 18 Legacy Edition Buy for 29.04 Trade for 34

The Legend of Spyro for Xbox 360 Buy for 23.76 Trade for 34

Cars 3 Driven to Win for 360 Buy for 23.76 Trade for 25.50

Forza Horizon 2 Buy for 23.76 Trade for 34

I'm just going down the list of expensive preowned games and checking trade values. There are good boomerangs to be had, but you may need many gamestops in your area.
Where are you getting the prices from?

I called gamestop again today about the values and they said eberything will probably tank tomorrow. They also told me to preorder some upcoming games just to guarantee a copy on launch! Love my local Gamestop!

Do Trade Values normally change in the middle of the day. I.E. is what's getting quoted right now, likely to be different from what I get quoted at the store tomorrow morning.

I have an extra 70% bonus scratcher coupon, if anyone has an extra copy of Shadow of the Colossus for the PS4 up for trade. Pm me pls if it's CIB, mint, and the collectors edition.

Thank yoy

You could buy assassins creed 2. Brotherhood, and revelations and trade them in together for the eizo collection for 360. Specially with the Buy 2 get 1 free

You could buy Core in the House and trade in with Corey in the House and get Buy 2 get 1 free

Mario LRG Corey is $18 each

Monster House Party is a big winner

Don't forget the wii stuff. Corey Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Corey's House Party 7 (9 too?), etc.

you can just type in 360 or ps3 in the trades search box and then you can list trades by highest value. then search how much they cost.

Went to a store this morning to get 6 of the games mentioned previously, only to find out they had exactly none of them, despite showing in stock online... The girl working was upset she had to shrink out so much stuff lol

Careful when trading in, clerk tried to sneak two refurb fees on me for a couple of Wii games... Especially since he was going to charge me $6 a disc.

Part of the blu-ray standard is that the disc is scratch resistant. This was not the case with DVD discs, which is partly why BR hold up better. Unless a BR is completely abused, you shouldn’t see scratches...

Never really had a problem with BR. Usually DVD as they seem to save less scratch proofing. Plus they've existed longer so more time for ware and tear.

No disagreement here. In fact the only time I've seen anything odd from a Blu-ray disc was after (probably too much) heat was applied to the disc to remove a RedBox sticker. However, in the event that you've driven over a Blu-ray disc on a gravel road, I would consult with your local library disc resurfacer technician before trying to resurface that disc. :)

I'm going to assume that this is only safe to do for DVD-based game discs and NOT Blu-ray/other-based game discs...
You can resurface DVD based games - Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, etc.

Blu-rays once scratched are usually damaged because the two layers are so thin that light scratching destroys the data. That is why they have a protective layer. I think you can resurface them with higher end machines that actually resurface the disc with heat (melting the protective surface and refilling the scratch) opposed to the tradition abrasive media resurfacers.

My little sister has an Easy Bake Oven. It works great.

If you plan on trading a lot of Xbox / Wii games Its almost worth purchasing a resurfacer because it makes Xbox / Wii games look brand new.

https://www.amazon.com/JFJ-Video-Blu-Ray-Repair-Machine/dp/B000RBE4B8 - I usually use this model with just the blue abrasive and it makes look almost brand new

Gamestop does a terrible job of resurfacing because they leave swirls on the discs when you order then online and I usually resurface them again to get rid of the swirl marks.

Some information I have read says you can resurface Blu-ray discs with the lightest abrasive for about a minute but I never tested it out because I didn't have any discs I wanted to destroy.

reminds me back in the day when EGM had an article about how putting your ps2 game in a microwave and running it for 20 seconds will actually get rid of scratches. (it was obviously a joke) People sent them pics of their warped ps2 games after actually trying it lol

Idiots. It's metal. Don't they listen to Einstein about the photoelectric effect.

Here is some more random knowledge I usually keep to myself.

Cheap games are great to trade to local area pawnshops. My local pawnshops like the games to have original cases and be in reasonable shape. Currently you can do B2G1 free. They are 2.39 currently on gamestop's website and in store. If you buy 3 they end up being 1.59 each. Not as good as the dollar games a couple weeks ago.

The local pawn shops I visit do 2 for 1 so I usually can get a better game out of the trade that has a higher TIV than the cost of the 2 games together. Sometimes they buy them as well and usually it equates to about $3 a game. Cost may vary in your area or they might not even take video games.

Might be something worth looking into.

Is it common for them to try and put refub fees on last gen games?
It's not uncommon. But they should tell you first and let you decide if you still want to do the trade. Just putting it on there, not saying anything, and then just giving you the total is sneaky, not to mention unethical. That's why it's a god practice to go in with a precalculated TIV. If the expected TIV is off find out why. If the trade isn't too your liking don't do it.

Dumb thing is the discs you buy at gamestop are the ones incurring the refurb fee. So if your buying gamestop discs be picky about the condition. It's your money.

Is there a limit on how many games you can trade at one time? I know too many probably raises a red flag.
I don't think do but you're right about raising a red flag. Essentially they don't want dealers. Spreading it out is optimal, but I know not everybody has a plethora of gamestops in their area (a plethora? Yes El Guapo. A plethora. ).

I've been doing like 6 at a time for awhile, trying to avoid dupes at the same store. Trying not to be too greedy.

Looks like Values have shifted slightly. Still tons of good options around, so just take your time and be patient.

I think you can honestly go all out. Just yesterday while I was in Gamestop, a guy walked in with a box full of games. Must have been over 50-60 games. Just make sure you don't keep going to the same one and doing it over and over again.
