Is this a nation-wide thing? Of the two GS's I checked recently, one no longer even sells used guides, and the other sells them but no longer accepts any as trade-ins. If this isn't YMMV, then this really sucks. :(

This really sucks as I've made a fortune coming across used guides for Square/Atlus/Nippon Ichi games that they're selling for like $3. If they're not taking trade ins my days of making $60 a book on eBay are over.

the store i work at doesnt accept guides unless they are traded in with the game, but i think its pretty much a ymmv thing, in theory we could take any in, you dont get much for trade in value though, probably under a dollar, but on the flip side they are really cheap, so its nice when they come through

They stopped at the GS store I go to. The trade in value of guide was .25-.50 before they stop accepting trade ins.

I still remember back in the psx days when they were giving out like $2-5 for a single guide.

brand new guides for new games trade in at .50

so, if you don't see a lot of used ones on the shelf it's because noone really trades them in anymore...

haha, lame. but these sound like individual store's 'unwritten' policies. probably the company as a whole decided it wasn't worth it (since people rarely buy older guides and sometimes they don't look so hot after being out a while) so they figured .50 would discourage people from trading them in.

nothing is as shady as someone coming in trying to trade in eight copies of the same guide for cash. >
