Saw this in my PUR e-mail earlier and GS is having one of those Kids day/Skylander day things again. No details on what the mini is going to be but I have credit to burn so I'll probably participate in this. Here's the text from the e-mail:

"Visit any GameStop on Saturday, January 11, for our next Skylanders Day! Get there early, because the first 25 Skylanders fans in the store get a FREE exclusive poster. We’ll also have tons of deals, including $20 off a Skylanders SWAP Force Starter Pack, a FREE Skylanders Mini with the purchase of $20 worth of Skylanders SWAP Force items, and more."

I think it's the best one so far. To answer your question though, yes it's a good game.

I love it. It's pretty much a basic brawler with some platforming, but the characters are charming and even at my age I think it's fun to use physical toys with my game, especially since your level ups and upgrades are saved directly onto the figure. And while I can't speak for the other games--I started with Swap Force when I bought it on Black Friday--they did put a LOT of content in this one (probably so there's still a reason to buy the toys even after you beat the game.)

EDIT: Oh yeah, and it's worth noting that you can beat the entire campaign and get all the achievements/trophies with just the starter pack, so you're not being forced to buy extra figures to advance or anything. I would say it's worth buying at least a couple extra though for some more variety.

So 50% off accessories would be the figures right..? Plus that adventure club thing says a free figure with the purchase of six or more..? So does that mean I could get seven figures for the price of three? Plus the minis?

I am on the train on my phone and don't feel like researching the deal further on here haha

I believe the 50% off applies to licensed junk such as bags and other items with Skylanders pics on them. The figures are not considered accessories.

I assume most of you know this but the mini-figs are the same Giants minis that Frito had given away before.
 
I wonder if they might still have the Original Mini's available to give away. I already have all of the Giants Mini's from the Frito Lay promotion but only have one of the original mini's. The prices on Ebay for those originals are crazy high.

 
Warning : I tried to sign up for the skylanders club before and they tried to charge me 14.99 for the privilege....

Not worth it considering GS price gouges for figures just like TRU does


Also does anyone know if they will have stink bomb and the other wave 3's for this event, if so I would be interested since would be pretty easy to buy $20 of figures and then get the free sidekick then flip the sidekick to eBay since they don't actually do anything in the game for some cheap figures. Most of the sidekicks are getting around $20 each on eBay.
 
Took my son this morning to the event. There were maybe ten other parents/kids all waiting with us. Ended up getting four skylanders: Stink Bomb, Boom Jet, Smolderdash & Countdown. We were able to get the poster and two free mini's (Tree Rex & Ninjini). Thanks again for the heads up OP, my son walked out one happy little boy today.

 
Our local store didn't have any figures beyond Wave 1, but we still walked out with the Tower of Time Adventure Set. I was pleasantly surprised to find it 20% off ($19.99) and we still got a sidekick.

The dude in line before me did two transactions to get two mini too hahaha. Pretty busy at my store, about 10 peoples and their kids. I just got Grilla Drilla and a regular SF fig.
 
I didn't really need any Skylanders but I happened to be at GameStop this morning at about 10:30 and I picked up a Lightcore Star Strike and the 9.99 3-pack (Chop Chop, Shroomboom and a battle item).  I ended up getting the Gnarly Tree Rex mini figure.
