GameStop Trade-In Question

Sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum to post this in, but it seemed like the most likely place for this type of question.

Anyway, During the whole Buy One Get One Free fiasco I decided to trade in a couple of games during the extra 50% promo to get credit for the online deal. However, we all know how that went..So now the trade-in credit I got for the games I traded in isn't really worth it and I was hoping to get my game back.

But after going back to GameStop the next day with my receipt they told me the games I had traded in have already been shipped out and I can't get them back. The only way I could is if I pay an extra $65 in addition to the credit they gave me and just buy them from them. I was under the impression that they hold your games for 7 days before stocking them in case you changed your mind and wanted them back, for some reason. But I guess I was wrong. What exactly is the policy for that? Is there a way I could just give the credit back and get my games back, or did they really sell them basically the same day I traded them in? Sorry if this is an obvious question, I've never tried to get a game back after trading it in so I'm not exactly sure how it works.

Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, Bad Company 2, and Dante's Inferno Divine Edition. Hopefully they really do have a buy 2 get 1 free in stores soon, then it could still work out to be a pretty good deal, albeit not as good as the buy 1 get 1 would have been.

Otherwise, in the immortal words of GOB, I've made a huge mistake.

Once you trade them in, the games are theirs. The "extra $65" thing is bullshit. You can buy them back, but it'll be at full used price.

Dunno where you got that "We'll hold these just in case you changed your mind" idea.. GameStop is in the business of making money. I've had used games get sold not even five minutes after they've been traded in. There's no hold policy at any store in case you change your mind, whether it's Game Crazy, GameStop, etc. Once you hand them over and the receipt prints, those games are no longer yours.

Yea, I'm not sure why I had that idea in my head. I could've sworn people had mentioned it on here actually. But guess not.

Funny enough though, the worker I spoke with when I had gone to get them back had said the only reason I can't is because one of the games went in without having a case, so it had to be refurbished. She said that if it had not been for that then they would in fact still have them and I would be able to get them back. So I don't know what that was about then. Either way, I won't be getting them back so I guess this is settled. =P

Thanks for replying.

well when i took back bioshock 2, i got 40 on last day of 50% extra, if you buy it online with cag16 and an edge card (25% off used games) you can buy bioshock 2 (or any of the games you listed) for $38, and if you dont mind waiting you can get free shipping.

if that money is on an edge card you can make about a buck on bioshock 2, idk what you got for the others, but it def would be less then $65 extra (maybe like 15)

Since you can do that at any time i would only buy back 1, and wait just encase they do have a B2G1 (and buy other three then.)

hope that helps.
