Gamestop trade in questions

laaj

CAGiversary!
Can someone please tell me how trade ins work at Gamestop. Do they only accept high demand titles? Do I have to spend the trade in value right then or can I just get a gift card with it? Anything else I should know?

For the record: yes I know I'll get ripped off compared to selling the games on eBay but I don't want to deal with all that. I'm primarily interested in trading in PS2 and DS games if that helps.

You give them your hard earned, high cost items, they pay you shit for it.

That's all you need to know. Make an amazon account. Become less impatient. Stop letting people profit off your laziness.

Can't you read? He said he doesn't want to deal with selling stuff online. Heaven forbid people would rather trade stuff in at Gamestop.

To the TC, I would suggest getting the Edge card it cost $15 a year but you get an extra 10% on trade-ins and 10% off used games, plus a subscription to Game Informer.

You can either get cash or in store credit which will be stored on your account so you can use it any time. The only thing is, if you want cash you get 20% less on trade-ins.

Thanks but how selective are they with games they are willing to accept in trade ins? If they are really picky about that I would be better off with eBay/Amazon even with hassles. Quick check shows ebay consignment shop in my city. Another info I forget to mention is that all my games are complete (manual, all the inserts, original case, and in some cases pre-order promos).

PS2 games will get very little credit at GS but they will take any of them except for some odd MMOrpg type titles.

Alternately, post them as a bundle on craigslist and see if anyone bites. You get cash, and guaranteed more than GameStop would offer in credit.

The Gamestop thread has a lot of PS2 trade in values due to the recent HWV clearance. I'd say 90% of the PS2 titles that didn't come out this year get from $1-3.

Link for that Gamestop thread? And what's HWV? Most of the games I'll be trading in are DS ones. Just 4-5 PS2 games like Okami, Beyond Good and Evil, and more games like that. Good games that I didn't really like. None of them terribly rare or anything.

You would be best just trading them in at Gamestop, unless you have some rare RPG or like Marvel vs. Capcom. After Amazon fees, PayPal fees, eBay fees, you would not make enough to really make up for the time and what not you spent putting up the auctions, driving to the PO, etc.

I heard that it's better to go to Gamecrazy or any other game place besides lamestop

They wanted to give 25 cents for my girlfriends favorite game(Ghost Recon)...it's old but cmon that's slapping you in the face
