Gamestop Trade In Value for Used Xbox 360 Help?

I bought a used Xbox 360 20gb off Ebay. It has not been delivered yet. If the 360 has hdmi output, then should I be worried about any problems such as red ring of death,etc?

If the 360 doesn't have hdmi:
I am thinking about trading it in at Gamestop and buying a new $300 Xbox 360 Pro to avoid any red ring of death problems. Anyone know the trade in value?
Do I need to trade in the controller also?
