Using the availability function of the GS web site, it shows the store has this "rare" game in stock. However I called and check the store myself and never found this. Now a few weeks later the web site still show the game in stock. The GS people claim that the they don't keep PSOne games int their computer and the web site is wrong. Of cousing using the GS web site I am able to find games like Persona 1 so I don't know who to believe.

1) They're holding it for themselves
2) The website is wrong (happens sometimes with the EB one since I've seen it show games in stock at my store that we don't have...not too familar with the GS system)

In my expierances the website is very often wrong. Certain stores are usually better about it then others, so it's all pretty much a crapshoot.

I had the same thing happen years ago with the dreaded DC Broadband Adaptor. The Gamestop website showed 1 in the store in my town, but a friend that worked there guarenteed that there hadn't been one there in months. Always best to take those stock listings with a grain of salt (that's already dissolved in the Atlantic).

Well this one store that I brought a copy of Thousand Arms still show the game in stock, so I am gussing the web site is probably incorrect. On the other hand, I returned a copy Kartia to a different store and now it is showing the game is in stock.

Yea, it's YMMV unfortunately. I found one store that had Suikoden I and II in stock and had them ship it over. The CSR at my store were really surprised they had it.

Then I find another Suikoden II store where my parents live and ask them to find it - but no dice.

My local GS says they have 1-3 copies of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Xbox. I bet when I go at lunch today, they don't have any.

There's a local GameStop in the Springs (Citadel) that had all of the their PS stock shipped to other stores. Unfortunately it wasn't editted out of their in-store inventory so it always shows up in the online search. The online system updates every night so if the game isn't there it's being hidden in the reserve drawer, someone else hid it elsewhere in the store to purchase later or it was transferred and not updated. I still think the online search is very reliable and use it all the time to track stuff down...

Gamestop's availability search is near worthless in my opinion. I called around to probably 10 stores once looking for a game that the site said they had in stock. None did.

I agree, and think it could depend on the store.

Yaeh, I've noticed this with the Gamestop tool on their site. It's helped me plenty of times find certain games, but it's also given me troubles. It'll say that a store has a game in-stock but either the employees were holding it out for themselves or it's just an error that the game was never there.
