I recently purchased some used XBOX games for my nephew the other day. Turns out he had one of the games I got him.

Will Gamestop refund my money, or will they only give me store credit?

The receipt says the following, "all used games and mercahdise must be returned within 7 days." I purchased the games on Monday so I'm within the time frame, but its says nothing about refunds or exchanges.

Thoughts? Thanks.

They should give you your money back without any problems. GS is pretty good about the 7 day return policy.

Key word being SHOULD. I tried to take a game back to them within the period and the conversation with the manager went something like this.

ME: "I'd like to return this game."
Manager: "Sorry I can't do that."
"Why? It's within 7 days."
"Well I can't let you do that, it's letting you rent games."

I had to argue with him 5 minutes, then call the national number just to return the stupid thing. Not even worth my time. YMMV of course.

I'm afraid that will happen to me too. I don't feel like arguing with some moron to return a game I have no use for.

Oh well, I'll give it a shot, otherwise it will be on eBay this afternoon.

Had you already returned something else on the same ticket? There is a policy in place that prevents people from doing multiple returns. I'm not saying the manager wasn't out of line by saying that, but he also wasn't trying to ream you either. There are some people out there who abuse the 7-day policy and basically treat it like free rentals. It's pretty much at managerial discretion. If one manager gives you shit, take it to another GS. As long as you have the receipt, you can return it to any GS. Just remember that you are gonna get some flak if it's the second or third time you've returned something.

i've had no problems returning stuff at gamestop. in fact they were usually really good experiences because for some reason they felt like giving me more than what i paid for. this was all realized after leaving the store of course .

Do they still let the employees rent the games?

The workers at a GS I usually go to tells me that if I don't like the game I can get a full refund or credit if I returned within 7 days.
