Gears of War question. Help needed.

One thing i will ask before i start...
I know it's hard, but please try to suppress the urge to post a response to this along the lines of 'Z0MG N00B' :)

Basically, i have been primarily a PS3 & Wii guy who has recently managed to obtain a 360 and a copy of Gears 1, and i have a problem completing a level as i seem to have lost the right weapon to kill the monster.
I am not sure of the exact name of the monster, but it is coming out from the ground in a circular shape with a huge mouth that shoots out little satanic creatures.
So, after unloading ALL of my ammo from all of my weapons onto it about 500 times, i am completely stuck, i think i may need to obtain the Hammer of Dawn, but have no idea how to get the correct weapon as i cannot go back through the gate to the level.

Someone please help? :)
 
I can't recall specifics but anytime you need the Hammer of Dawn (like where you are at) it should be obtainable somewhere on the ground. Just retrace your steps where you can still wander around and track it down.
 
I vaguely remember the level as well. I'm pretty sure gamefaqs should be able to help here, just dig up the FAQ and find where your at.
 
I believe you're on the ledge needing to blast the seeder [house of sovereign, i think]. the hammer of dawn should be on the ground in the room before the encounter, or shortly before that. if not, restart the chapter; viola!
