Getting Halo 2 early?

Hell, I'm not impatient. Well, maybe I am. But hey, the sooner I can get this damn thing, the better. I don't have enough time or energy to waste anticipating for a game to come out, it's an exhausting practice. Besides, if you could, then wouldn't you?

Anyone who already owns the game recieved it through illegal manners. They themselves may not have committed a crime, but someone did in order for them to get it (a retailer breaking street date to get his friend a copy for instance).
And not to sound high and mighty, but no, no I would not. I want to play this game on Live on day one. I want to boot up Live and see hundreds of games running. I don't want to boot it up tomorrow and see only a few games being played. I want to play this with my Live friends, something I can't do unless we all have early copies. You are right in that stores will have the game before the 9th, but you're really jumping the gun.
Stores will not recieve it until late next week. If you're Microsoft you want to make certain that the game is available as soon stores open on release day, but the earlier you send it, the more likely that people will start breaking the date. You only have 10 days.

Stores already have recieved it. Think about how many copies need to be sent to retailers. Do you think they are going to wait until the last 4 or 5 days to ship them? No. You are correct that they are taking a risk, and most certainly someone somewhere will (or already has) broken the street date. But it's less of a risk than not getting copies to the stores by the 9th.

Ok, if I'm jumping the gun a bit, then thanks for telling me. It's simply that I've seen pics Halo 2 shipments at retailers, and that's what prompted this thread.

Dude, lay off with the whole "moral police" thing already! I agree with 90% of your (and other anti-piracy CAGs) statements regarding issues dealing with copyright infringement, but i really don't think this guy meant any harm by his post.

I understand that I sound a little overzealous right now, and for that I apologize. Part of the problem is that for the last 3 weeks, every other customer I deal with has been asking me when and where to get the game early. Almost every person I talk to thinks that I have access to it, or that I'd be willing to risk my job to get them a copy. It's just a little frustrating. This thread made me think of every one of those people that have asked me about it. It just lit a fuse in me. I apologize sTaTix, i didn't think you would do anything illegal to get it. I just wish people were a little more patient at times.

Three things that I wish people would do:
1. be nice to each other more
2. be calm and patient more often
3. speak more clearly and pointedly

Again, it was not my intent to make you sound like you were trying to get it underhanded. And you're right, it is not my place to govern what is and is not said here. Your post just made me think of every impatient and selfish person that has approached me at work asking to get them an early copy, regardless of the consequences.
