sega news
no shenmue 3 untill shenmue online has matured. SHining force parts 2&3 may get translated,. also Sonic on PS3 was 75% done and the 360 version was 85% done(no date yet), no word on other sega titles for XBLA beside sonic. sonic rivals on psp was near a gold state and sonic on the gba is built from the ground up not runing on a emulator at 85% finished. Phantasy Star from sega ages might not come here because of the genesis collection for ps2/psp. Sakura Taisen will not come to the states

x360 arcade
Contra looked finished and runing at 100%, its the acarde version, i expect to it see on live next week(i tired to get date out the rep on contra, UMK3, and Lumines live no luck) Lumines live also seem like gold but i only to play 1 level so i don't know how much more work is needed, UMK3 im pretty sure is finished all the modes of play are (20Gs for a 5 hit combo) there, AA wasn't on so maybe its like 90% done.

I was at Digital Life as well, but as press. Main items on my agenda were Wii and PS3 playables. PS3 had only two consoles running and nothing worth mentioning about playable (Resistance looked good and NBA was blah). Wii had Elebits and Madden. I don't know if it was the demo, calibration on the controller, or Elebits just plain sucked. Shooting aliens hiding in a kitchen wasn't that fun. Madden on the otherhand was pretty damn fun. I'm not a big football video game fan, but this game actually got me more actively involved in it. Plus, kicking my friends ass 14-0 (1 minute quarters) with a QB sneak to boot rocked.

Current Gen games I got to play were Viva Pinata, MGS: PO, FFXII, Eragon, a bunch of Sonics, and a bunch of others. Viva Pinata was kind of boring since the playable had you start at the beginning where the only fun to be had was wacking dirt with a shovel, planting grass, and watering the grass. MGS: PO was great and played like a MGS game unlike the card battling spin-off that is MGS: Acid. FFXII is FF series, but for me had a better combat system. Eragon looked decent, but was a bland hack and slash with dragon calling thrown into it. I honestly didn't enjoy any of the Sonics.

Overall this event was tame compared to other gaming events I have been too (maybe due to it being a tech event and not solely games). I did snag a bunch of free stuff and a bunch of crappy press kits though. And free booze at the press gathering. :D

Oh please do not tease about that. If I get my hopes up and Sega rapes another of my childhood dreams, I may well have to sacrifice my Saturn.

i just posting about what the reps said from my notes

Digital Life was amazing. It blew away the last two years. They have never had so many unrealeased games playable on the show floor before. I played many things and got TONS of cool swag.

I played many XBLA arcade games such as Mortal Kombat, Small Arms, The Second Mutant Storm, Heavy Weapons, Lumines Live, and one other that I can't remember the name of (It was like a crazy version of Smash TV). All of the XBLA arcade games were great with the exception of Lumines Live. The controls sucked compared to how they are on the PSP. I couldn't get a date for LL but it must be close to done considering I unlocked an achievment while playing it.

I also checked out the latest batch of Clancy games- Rainbow 6 Vegas and Splinter Cell Double Agent. I have never played much Rainbow 6 before but Vegas was really fun. SC was their star. I couldn't believe how great the graphics were. I can't wait to get it when it comes out.

In the Portables area I checked out the new Castlevania for the DS and Metal Gear Portable. Castlevania just like all of its previous entries looked and played very well. MGSP was multiplayer only which really sucked but it was still interesting just to see how the characters controlled with the loss of many buttons when moving from PS2 to PSP and they actually moved well.

I played both Elebits and Madden (no line because I was early) and Madden was really great while Elebits was something I just wasn't getting. I would like to give it the benefit of the doubt and think that it was hard to play with all of this stuff going on around me. Madden controlled like a dream. Madden fans need to pick up a Wii.

I asked the guy at the Sega area if PSU would have such long load times when it shipped (like the beta does now) and he avoided my question. Sega had Sonic for the Ps3, Xbox 360, and GBA. I played them all.

One of the big disappointments at the show was how bad Justice League Heroes was. It was not fun at all.

The ORIGINAL Guitar Hero was on display at the first year of digital life. At the time no one knew anything about it and it had a pitifully tiny booth. I said to my friend "this is going to be BIG." This year GH II had one of the biggest booths of them all and was one of the most popular games of show.

What a great time I had!!!

GH was at the first year? i didnt know. i know they had it in the 2nd year. so what kind of swag did u get this year. this year sucks to me. not many good swags. i only got shirt from alienware, shirt from gametap, and some pens. oh yea yoyo and popcorn

I didn't reacalling seeing GH there even fact the gaming side of things was pretty small the first year GGI, and Darkwatch were the big shows i recall

Yeah it was there.

I got:
Alienware "Player" Shirt
Gametap "Logo" Shirt (Blue)
2 Gametap hats (one black, one beige)
Vongo "Play" Shirt
Xbox 360 stressball
2 Xbox 360 Magnets
2 Nividia Pens
1 Hewlett Packard pen
4 Digital Life readmission wristbands (2 blue, 1 orange, 1 grey)
Justice League Heroes EXCLUSIVE comic book (prequel to the game's story)
Justice League Heroes poster (REALLY SWEET!)
Digital Life Show Guide
Popcorn
Final Fantasy XII Temporary Tatoos (Many)
Victory Records Sampler CD

I got some other stuff too but I can't recall off hand. I am now really interested in game tap and will probably be signing up for $60 a year ($5 a month is not too shabby). I missed both the Digital Life shirts and the HP hats but otherwise I got some pretty cool stuff.

Sounds fun I wish I could of made it their I tried my ass off to get down their. If they would have advertised it a little more I could got my tickets in advance instead found out 1 week in advance.
