GH3 Controller Compatible?

Hey guys, I'm wondering if the GH3 controller for PS3 will work with GH1 and 2, or do you have to have an adapter and hook up one of the PS2 guitars in order to play? Also, anyone know of any cheap converters that will work?

Also, is the GH3 guitar compatible with Rock Band, and vice versa? I tried using my Rock Band guitar to play GH1 and 2, and of course there was no luck, it didn't work, so hoping the GH3 guitar will. In any case, any experience that anyone has had would this, please let me know. Thanks a ton!

The GH3 guitar doesn't work with Rock Band on PS3. There's some drama between Activision/Harmonix about letting them release a patch that will add compatibility, but that seems unlikely to ever happen.

It doesn't quite address your problem, but I did see this adapter on Kotaku the other day which sounds like it finally makes PS2 guitars 100% compatible with PS3 guitar games. Good news for people who don't like the Stratocaster. It's too bad they didn't come out with this back at launch, when I still had my GH1 guitar.
