Going back to school, need a laptop. Advice please.

CAGiversary!
I'm going back to school so I can get my masters in education. I figured I use some of my tax money to buy a laptop I can use for my return. I never used one while going for my BA and recall always wanting one. I need a notebook that runs fast, can store a good amount of work (lesson plans and assignments for my students), and be able to run some new games I am interested in purchasing (Fallout 3 anyone?) with relative ease. My price range is 700 to 1000, however, capping around 800 would be lovely. Any advice would be appreciate.

I recommend waiting for a coupon for hp.com or dell.com. From hp the model you should probably look at is [link=http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Category&v1=Entertainment+powerhouse&series_name=dv9700t_series]this one[/link]. Just make sure you have a dual core intel processor, a geforce 8600m or better (which can run Crysis on medium-low settings), and 2 gb or more of ram and you shouldn't have any problems running Fallout 3.

I work at Sam's Club and would highly recommend buying from there. The low price and return policy is alone worth the purchase from there.

That's the same video card I have on my $400 laptop. It certainly will not run Fallout 3 at all since it can only handle source games at minimum settings using directx 8.
If you look around deal sites I'm pretty sure you can get those specs at cheaper prices.
Ya, well the only problem is catching it at the right time. If you dont order it within the first few hours of the deal being posted, you already missed out.

Besides, Asus has amazing customer service from what my friends have told me so far.

Uh, I'm not sure you'll be able to play a powerful game like Fallout 3 in under $800 for a laptop.

If someone can, please prove me wrong.

I've narrowed mine down to 3, I'm pretty sure I'm getting the ATI HD 3650 one though.

It shouldnt have any problems running Fallout3 unless it's "another" Crysis game.

Well nobody can prove you wrong because it isn't out yet, but I think it's going to use the same engine as Oblivion so if you can run Oblivion on medium you should be able to at least run Fallout 3 on low.
