N64 with Mario, a bond game, zelda: mm, star wars racer, gauntlet legends, and army men for $25. Is this a good deal or should I just use that money towards a gamecube?

If I were you I'd buy it.

thats a good deal. i just bought mine from ebgames for 17.99 used. but it was in prime condition. if i were you, i would snatch that up quick.

Yeah, buy it. Even if you decide you don't want it, EBGames is doing "Trade a 64 and 6 games for $50 credit", so you could double your investment.

totally forgot about that. I guess I'll pick it up and try it out.

I'm not crazy about the systems that came between the current gen and the 16 bit consoles, especially with the n64. I can't really think of any good games for the system.

I have no feeling to buy the N64 now days. With the Revoluton going to have downloadable content for download, no reason to. Just the other day, I watched a guy get told at this mom and pop that rips people off that he would only get $5 for his N64. The snot said he thought he would get close to $50 and I'm like, "hey dude, want $15?" as a joke, and I get yelled at by the guy working in the store and almost got thrown out. Great deal at losing a regular.

I agree with you, but for the love of anything, don't just SELL Mario 64!! PLAY it while you have the chance as it is up there with Chrono Trigger as my favorite two games of all time. It is at least 1,000x better than the DS port and 10,000x better than Mario Sunshine. It. F'ing. Pwns.

Play these N64 games:
Mystical Ninja
Paper Mario
Mario 64
Majora's Mask
Beetle Adventure Racing
Shadows of the Empire

N64 looks and sounds like shit, but sometimes, OMG sometimes.... you'll weep over its beauty.

Does it have the RAM pack? . . . Red thingy under the cap in front of the cartridge slot . . . that would be worth the $25 right there.

I'd say buy it if you want the system . . . there is some profit to be had but maybe not much.

I don't know anything about the n64 so I didn't even check until now. There is a RAM pack under the cover. Question: does it come out? I tried to take it out but couldn't get a grip. Where is it worth $25? I'll be sure to take it out when I trade it in to EB at the end of the month.

One controller only, came with Mario64, Bond: world is not enough, army men, zelda majora's mask, gauntlet, and star wars racer.

I actually don't like Mario 64's control. He seems to slide around too much, the camera is funky - it tends to give me all the wrong angles. It's hard to play it especially after playing games that have pretty much perfected the platform genre like Jak and ratchet. And how does one hold the controller??? If I hold it like a normal controller my thumb barely reaches the analog stick.

Left hand in the middle, right on the right.

Don't take out the RAM pack, or you won't be able to play games. Only take it out if you have the original black one to replace it.

Sounds like a good buy to me. Does the console come with controllers, ac adapter and video connector? If any one of those are missing, the buy is still worth it. The game Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask puts the icing on the cake, it alone sells for 25 dollars at any local gamecrazy. A preplayed N64 system can be bought at ebgames for 18 dollars but that does not include any games. Buy it!!!!!!!!!

Bought it this morning. Played with it all day; Majora's mask is good, gauntlet is not bad either - like a simpler, arcade version of baldur's gate. Too bad it only came with one controller.

i picked up a n64 recently and i don't really remember what that RAM pack does. could you refresh my memory and let me know?

The RAM Expansion Pack allows for sexier graphics in games that support it, and some games require it. Perfect Dark won't let you do multiplayer without it.

As for camera issues in Mario 64, switch the camera to 'follow Mario', and hold the 'R' button. Camera issues solved. Although I do agree that coming off of games like Wind Waker does make the camera more difficult to manage.

i own one.. i can't seem to find a decent racer i like on it though.. Smash Bros was fun but short and easy.. i love quake but it wasn't as good as i remembered the computer version being. SM64 is a very excellent platformer.. but with revolution coming out it could make owning older systems obsolite. so to each his own.

for racing action, try out Beetle Adventure Racing... for some reason, I am in love with that game.
