Good source for renting Special Editions?

CAGiversary!
One of the problems with the industry's "double-dipping" practices is that I can't find places to rent Special Editions and Director's Cuts and the like. After the initial DVD release, Blockbuster, Netflix, and the like don't bother renting later DVD editions, which often contain bonus content or simply a better audio/video transfer than the initial release. A good example is the recent Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut: I can't find it for rent anywhere. I decided to buy it and don't regret it, but it would've been nice to have the option of renting first.

So anyway, just wondering if anyone knew a good source for renting all these special editions et al that Hollywood keeps releasing. Thanks!

Well, I haven't found any place locally which rents them and I'm getting tired of visiting them all. :) I would've thought someone would realize by now there's a market for people like me, who want to see these special edition DVDs but don't want to buy them, but so far I haven't found anyplace online.

Well, until I bought it, the Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut. :) But also, say, the extended version of Gladiator, the special edition of Master & Commander (like to see the extras, but not willing to pay an extra $15 to buy them over the regular DVD), the extras disc from the recent version of The Fifth Element (want to see, already have Superbit, don't want to rebuy), stuff like that.

This might sound weird, but you can try requesting your B&M rental stores to get a certain title. We used to have a semi-national chain here called Mr. Movies (they bought out and took over a few older Blockbuster locations), and if they didn't have a title, they would take your request to add the movie to their rental catalog.

I was able to rent the Special Edition of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre that way, it only took them a few weeks to order it.
