CAGiversary!
Greetings, I pre-ordered a copy of GoW3 online from gamestop for in-store pickup at a local shop. I did this primarily for the beta so that once I got the key, I would cancel the order. But since I did for in-store pick up I guess I get my key by going into the local shop and getting it from them (as I have yet to receive a key from in my inbox and it's been a week). I was wondering if anyone has any past experience with this kind of situation. They state that once a beta key is provided to the buyer the order can no longer be canceled. However, my friend had pre-ordered it online to get it delivered to his address, got the beta key in his box and then successfully canceled the order once he got the key.
So, I guess my options are to either go in-store and get the key and then never go to buy the game release date. (I went into the local shop to cancel my order and they said that I didn't need to really come in and cancel, if I don't come in to get it release date then I just don't buy the game). Or, pre-order online too get the key and then maybe successfully being able to cancel the order.
Is it possible just to go in-store to get the key and then just never come in on release date to buy it? And if I DO do that, then do they automatically charge me for the game since I got the beta key? I'm hoping for some input from a former or current Gamestop employee or maybe a customer who has done this before.
