GPLAY rental service fraud!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sancho

CAGiversary!
This is very important and I think this will be of interest to those that rent games online!

This past month I decided that I wanted to drop my relationship w/ Gamefly because the service was just too slow for my liking ( mind you, only because they are on the West Coast ). I came across a list of online rental services on one of the Cheapassgamer forums and decided to give two from the list a trial. The two I chose were "gamesforrent.com" and "GPLAY.com(aka triggerfingers.com).

While I received my games from gamesforrent.com, Gplay became a whole other issue. I just can't believe what this company has put me through......a company that has apparently been running legit services for a few years now *shrugs*

this is my situation.........

FIRST REPLY FROM 1ST QUESTION OF "How will I know if my first games have been sent out or not?"

March 13th

Dear Tim,

We send out e-mail notices when we send out a game.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

SECOND REPLY (this is when I started to get angry w/ them and became assertive)

MARCH 17th

Dear Tim,

Thank you for contacting us regarding this matter. Sorry for the delay
in shipping a game to you. I've extended your trial until 3/30.
Something should ship soon.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

MARCH 22ND 3rd reply after 3rd inquiry........very angry at this point

Dear Tim,

We apologize in the delay in getting your titles out to you. We are
currently
experiencing tremendous demand and some customers may experience
slightly
longer wait times for their games. Rest assured we are acquiring more
games
everyday so it should not be too much longer to receive your titles.
As it
typically takes three or four days for us to ship the first trial game,
your
trial account is good for 14 days from your sign up date. If it has
been
longer than four days, we recommend that you add a few more titles to
your
queue. We recommend that a user keeps eight released games in their
queue at
all times.

Your trial date have been extended to April 4th.

Thanks for your patience.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

and now for the last hurrah......... (continued)

MARCH 28TH........the last time I've heard from them and my last query

I threatened them to fix my account within 6 hours or I would cancel....I have not heard from them since

Tim : I have 2 days of my EXTENDED trial (signed up about 20
days
ago) and even still, no games have even left your distribution center
for
arrival at my address! Even after appropriate replies from
representatives
via email, the customer support has been nothing but a cloak for
apparent
suspicious activity from this company.
If this situation w/ my account doesn't get resolved within the next 6
hours(5 pm Eastern Std time as message is written), I have no other
choice
but to terminate my account from this company at said time!

This whole ordeal has been extremely appalling and gives me no
incentive not
to warn others about this site

You are now speaking with Jessica Smith of customer service.
Jessica Smith: Hello there! I'd be happy to help you today.
Tim : hi
Tim : hello?
Jessica Smith: hi.
Jessica Smith: how can i help you today?
Tim : I've typed my question/statement
Jessica Smith: i readit.
Jessica Smith: i will let the inventory department know of your
situation.
Tim : I was told in e-mail(second email after second complaint)
that
there has been high volume of new customers
Tim : that's fine, but what doesn't make sense to me is that my
top 2
games have been in stock since day one
Tim : therefore, why haven't they been sent out even now? My
account
will be charged in 2 days, and I've yet to receive any games(won;t
receive
them untill well after my bank account get's charged anyway)

This has how my Queue list has looked for over 2 1/2 weeks now

..so okay. They're having a high volume of people trying to rent things, you're getting a FREE trial and they're bending over backwards to extend it.. but you're complaining? Just because it says they're in stock doesn't mean they are, they don't have people to update the site 24/7.. if you haven't lost money, it's not really fraud.. I think things are just backed up.. I dunno, I could be wrong, but by e-mailing you apologizing and then even extending the date of the trial period.. they came off as nice to me.

I know, wrong forum, but I imagine this comment will travel...

Um...that doesn't really sound like fraud to me. Does it sound like a poorly run business? Yes. But you have only lost time, and maybe some hair. Since you have not lost anything of monetary value, I think you should probably change the title.

Don't get me wrong, they obviously don't have their shit together and that's really sucky for you - but why haven't you just canceled and moved on? They obviously aren't a company one should give money to the way they have constantly jerked you around.

Even though it is a free trial, they really aren't selling you on their service very well since you're not getting anything at all except cust. service replies. I would just cancel the account and move on, it definitely seems like this company will not work for you.

Also, the first game in your que just came out last week, not to mention that it is probably in high demand.
From my experiences with these free-trial memberships is that they aren't going to ship out popular or new release games during the free trial.

I don't think you guys get the larger picture.

1.)It's fraud because they never sent my games out and haven't answered me back w/ my last inquiry

2.) my free trial started on the 12th of march....(I caught them in a lie and found out that the trial is only ten days and not 14)....

3.) the trial extention was NOT a "nice thing on their part", but rather the mandatory thing to do on their part instead of charging my account before I even received one game

4.)My not cancelling my account w/ them is irrelevant to why I posted this consumer warning to begin w/, and you should be able to comprehend that!

my initial trial started on the 12th of march......what's the date today? March 31st? and no game has even left their distribution center?

it's fraud, especially because I believe they took the 20 dollars out of my bank account today, which made the " extention" an outright lie!

I agree, if they're charging you now, then cancel your account and demand your money back because of the lack of games and the supposed extensions.

Yep, I would cancel for sure.

And I think posting your experience here is good for the CAG community. It'll save others from wasting their time with this site.

I wished I read your post earlier. I just joined Gplay myself recently and I had a bad experience with it but not as bad as you. I joined gplay's free trial for 7 days then I canceled it when I receive no games at all because I'm tired of waiting (it seems like a smart thing to do after reading your post). Gplay email me to extend the free trial and luckily that I didn't accept it. My advice is to stay away from gplay because they don't sent you any game and it is not worth the time. In the email gplay sent me it stated that the free trial does not start until they shipped out your first game. When I chat with a customer service person on their website she told me that they just change that to the date I signed up for the trial but gplay did not email me the change to me. I'm really glad I canceled gplay in 7 days and did not get my credit card charged.

Sancho, so how is the service of gamesforrent.com? How many games did you receive during your trial and how long was your trial? Did you live close to their distribution center at NJ?

Do you guys know any other websites that give you free trials and has pretty good service (that they actually send you the games in resonable time)?

personally never had a problem with gplay (triggerfingers)...just didn't like the fact that the games came without instruction book...cancel if you have a problem, but just remember that you need patience when dealing with anyone...

I also tried GPlay and it wasn't for me, they shipped out the 8th game on my priority list and right there I knew I was gonna have problems if I stayed. Try http://www.gamerang.com, it's pretty good, their distribution center is in NJ if you're on the east coast. Nice and clean.

Yogi99, I highly suggest www.gamesforrent.com

the only problem I had w/ them is that they made me change the shipping address to my billing address(my mother and I share a checking account, and the bill goes to her house).

My games came promptly and in an envelope much like Gameflys!

I live in RI and gamesforrent is located in NJ

if you are in cali, I highly suggest going w/ Gamefly, especially since they have amazing deals on used games!
