For those cheap asses like me that are still stuck playing (collecting) old gen games.

GameStop seems to have just started today: 50% off all used original xbox games. (60% off with edge card)

Enjoy.

Yeah, apparently I stumbled across the only Gamestop in Arizona still selling DVDs. They were indeed 75% off. Their selection was total crap though, however I did find the Best of Triumph The Comic Insult dog which I snagged for a 1.20 in credit, and some Gundam anime DVD for .90 cents.
This past weekend they were having a buy 2 get 2 free sale on Xbox games (used, obviously). I picked up BG: Dark Alliance 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Demon Stone, and Fable.

The GS employee I talked with told me they were just trying to get rid of all their old Xbox games.
Wow, good haul. I'd like to get Panzer Dragoon Orta as well - only heard good things about it.

Maybe there were some in the back that they found. One store has a large rack that they put back out on the floor and another has a small rack on the counter. Total junk though.

Both the xbox and PS2 versions of MvC2 have frame rate issues. Moneys better spent on the Dreamcast version, or the 360/PS3 download.

Dreamcast version goes for around $20 on ebay these days. That would be a well spent $3 extra.

all my local gamestop's are empty of original xbox games. they are no where to be found. the spot where the original xbox games were are now replaced by $14.99 or lower xbox 360 games.

oh well, i got what i wanted last year which was: the original xbox system, the original halo, halo 2, shenmue 2 and metal gear solid 2: substance.

People still buy DC games? hmm...:whistle2:# {BootDream}
Not bad but I want to see the 50% off all original xbox consoles. Wouldn't mind picking up a few more.
Yeah, I need one to replace my original one because the power supply is shot and I am a bit skeptical about buying ones off ebay.
Is this a confirmed deal or is it YMMV? I might be interested in this if any of my gamestops have any games left.
It's a confirmed deal, but most GameStops in my area stopped carrying Xbox games a long time ago. In my area (St Louis) most of the games are in GS boxes and the few that have coverart aren't worth owning.

found one here that had a lot of them, mostly disc only, but I got about 25 games for ~$50. Pretty decent ones too. Psi Ops, Xmen Legends, Total Overdose, The Thing, True Crime, Syberia, Gladius, etc. they had a ton of sports and other junk though. Been wanting to boost the original xbox collection since I modded and repaired one I got at goodwill.
Is Sneak King counted as an Xbox game? .40 sounds pretty good if only for the achievements.
I doubt it because they're always on the 360 shelf. And I realize its Cheap Ass Gamer and all, but is 60 cents make or break for you? :D

I went to one store today, and didn't see any Xbox titles on the shelf, so I asked about them, and was told that they have the discs only behind the counter. So I said, OK, can I see what you have, and he said no, I wasn't allowed to look through them. The only way I could actually buy any was to tell him the specific titles I wanted, and he would look to see if they had them. So...jeez. I asked if he had the Jurassic Park game as that's the only one I can remember off the top of my head as being rare, and the answer was...no. So that was the end of my shopping trip. Gamestop wins again!

lol go back with a list 30 long and ask him to look for each one, then buy none of them.

Do this for a week straight with a new list and see if they let you look through the discs after that.

This!

When the GB/GBC clearance was going on, there guy dragged a bag out from under the counter and let me look through all of them. The remainders were more sorted when I left than they started, but that was because I took 75 or so games.

Jurassic Park is rare?!?!? Saw a complete copy at my local Gamestop this weekend. Didn't know it was worth money. Only caught my eye because it sounded like an odd shovelwear game. Just checked gamestop.com store lookup and its no longer there.

Yeah I'm gonna go back on Bioshock 2 release day, wait until the store is packed, and then start asking for Madden 04, 05, 06, 07, NHL 05, 06, 07, NBA, NCAA, etc etc. Then I will pay in pennies.

As for Jurassic park, you still have to pay $14 for it even with 50% off, so I don't know if its that great of a deal.

if the games had better ability in running on my 360 and also if i was able to use the dashboard. I'd buy more originals!

and no compatibility with timesplitters.. lame
I know where I'm going after class... Mega Man rocks! (I would die if I found the Mega Man and Mega Man X Collections, but I know I'm not going to get that lucky)
Only Mega Man Collection came out on XBX; Mega Man X Collection came out on the PS2 and GCN.

I'm glad my XBX collection was completed a while ago. I've got 135 games on the console and a HUGE backlog. It's an excellent gaming console and when it comes to multi-platform titles last-gen, it typically had the better of the three.

It would seem that a majority of my local GS stores moved out a good portion of the games they had for the original Xbox before this clearance started.

I wanted to try and grab certain games I never got a chance to play(still trying to find a complete Steel Battalion, but not willing to pay EBay's inflated prices for it).

Its funny, even though I have a 360, I would say the original xbox was IMO by far the weakest out of the last gen consoles. It didnt really have many must-have exclusive games outside of the halos. Ps2 completely blew it out of the water, and I even think Gamecube was better...

Complete and mint, it's still a deal. The Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis game is pretty rare. At $14, yeah it's not 75% (85% with Edge) off but still you will not be losing money if you decide to resell it.

If you can find that or even better, the complete Steel Batallion (boy do I regret lagging on picking up the last complete copy at Gamestop in the greater LA area...there's one listed in LA but as usual it's "an inventory tracker mistake"), those should be insta-buys. Conker's Bad Fur Day as well. Worms 3D, no idea why that's $20 pre-savings rare I guess, but also hit Futurama, Baldur's Gate 2, maybe Teen Titans if you see them mint/complete. AvP: Extinction, Fatal Frame 1 and 2, some of the LucasArts Star Wars games and their Indy game, the Capcom collection games (Megaman and Street Fighter) are also good options for value and just getting great games at this point, outside of the super cheap stuff. Sniper Elite is an awesome game, and it didn't have a large print run on XBox or PS2.

Even though it's $33 pre-savings, the GTA Trilogy, if it's complete with the outer box, might be worth a resale. Same with MvC2.

I'm going to start checking my stores carefully, but really unless these are complete and mint, I'm going to keep holding out for 75%, except on stuff $5 pre-savings and less.

I hope that everyone knows that the Edge card is using the old regular price for the discount. MvC2 is $40 regular price. The Edge card is using the 10% on that, not the reduced price of $20. With the card added on at the end, you can pick up MvC2 for just $16.

I agree the XBX didn't have as many must-have exclusives as the PS2 and the GCN --- still, it had a fair share worth playing. Some that come to mind (outside of Halo):

Buffy Vampire Slayer
Conker: Live & Reloaded
Crazy Taxi 3: High Rollers
Crimson Sea
Crimson Skies
Dead or Alive 3, Ultimate, X-treme beach volleyball (so much better than 2)
Fable: The Lost Chapters
Grabbed by the Ghoulies (I actually like this game by Rare)
Jade Empire (SO underrated and overlooked)
Maximum Chase (this game is also overlooked -- it's really not bad and the cutscenes are so bad they're good)
Otogi 1 and 2 (amazing games)
Shenmue 2 (sure, the English dub is bad but it's the next best thing to the PAL DC version)
Star Wars KOTOR 1 and 2
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Unreal 2 The Liandri Conflict

Great list!

Xbox had quite a lot of exclusives in my mind, I"ll also add these exclusives that I really dug:

Arx Fatalis
Call of Cthulhu
Curse, Eye of Isis
Dino Crisis 3
Dreamfall
Dungeons & Dragons
Enclave
Galleon
Halos
Men of Valor
Otogi 1 & 2
Panzer Dragoon
Phantom Dust
Star Wars Republic Commando
Stubbs Zombie

Good hunting to you all.

Bravo on the lists. I especially vote for Stubbs the Zombie, Pirates and Conker. (Conker still has an online community!)

I have to add:

Armed and Dangerious
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (GoTY Edition)
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee
Oddworld: Strangers Wrath
Psychonauts (also PS2, but this was the original version)
Worms 3D: SE (added online play)
Worms 4

I also wish Timesplitters were backwards compatible! But I use my original XBox for that, anyway, since things just tend to run better.

I have XBMC loaded on my old XBox. Isn't that 1080i interface amazingly good?

Is Dino Crisis 3 the one where they are on a spaceship? I always got the "zombie dinos on a ship...YEEAAAAHHHH" vibe from the cover of that game.

*EDIT* The 50% off is also for accessories :) grabbed up a memory card for the soft mod, so if you have any used xbox controllers nearby they will be 4 dollars after edge

Well...I got the Action Replay cord from ebay (5 dollars whoot), loaded up the Splinter Cell save, and I now have a soft-modded xbox :)

If anyone with a decent 'marketplace feedback' needs the stuff to soft mod their xbox let me know :) I'll ship it out free of charge as long as you ship it all to the next person who needs it.

Saving games to the HD does wonders for the load time, I had no idea :)

Actually, I went and bought The Warriors at my GS just the other day, only to get home and realize, d'oh, I should've checked the compatibility list.

And this isn't one of those mods that causes your console to be kicked from Xbox Live?

off topic but can u explain how u modded ?

I asked this in another thread, but this may be the place - what is Brute Force like? looks like I game I'd dig, but I need some feedback. I only have 360 so BC is an issue for me, but I plan to hit up the gamestop in the mall where I work, they had a rack of most disc only when I went to get the 3.99 mic, forget to check on them then but will do so this week.

I am just wondering, what you searched for to find just the cord. My buddy wants one to keep and I need one as well. All I ever find is the full pack which is $30.

Hmm, most people don't use their old xbox to connect to live anymore. At least I don't. I like the benefits of the soft-mod, and I still own a large legitimate library of games. Love my trainers, and all the perks. :)

I just searched pro action replay, and scrolled down and found a just cord auction. I already had the data disk you need for your PC in order to transfer the data. If you don't have the disk and you are getting it in order to transfer the saves, I'd recommend getting the whole package.

Also, for whatever reason my Vista computer wouldn't recognize the xbox memory card, but as soon as I switched over to my XP netbook it was recognized in a second.

Cheapskate, yes you will get blocked from xbox live, but its the regular xbox not the 360, is live even still active for it?

I think the last time I looked there for a used copy of Ninja Gaiden: Black they wanted something like $40-$50 for it which is beyond ridiculous. That was like two years ago though.

Still, not a big fan of their prices there - even with 50% off I wonder how good of a deal you're getting. Also, I hate their "we don't have the original box" boxes :p They look so very stupid... just my opinion though :)

You could just throw caution to the wind and spend two dollars to buy it :)
Im confused.....is there like an ad for this or something? Im not seeing it anywhere on the gamestop website...
the Web site still has B2G2, but every store I've been to in the past two weeks has the 50% off deal. Also, it's not an online deal.

If anyone is looking for some xbox games, PM me since i can check at Astoria, NY
Steinway GS for i work there.

I am actually looking for Stubbs The Zombie - Complete which is hard to find now, so if anyone sees it please PM me!
