Damn, only $20? Talk about a big 'ole F-u for all those who payed $50 for the PSP version just a bit ago.
I was thinking the same thing, but since I don't own a PSP, this is good news for me.

I own this for the PSP. Great game for the PSP, but I will be eager to see if they add anything for the PS2 release.

Honestly, if they don't add anything and just release a port, then I think a lot of people will be disappointed. If you just play the missions, the game is really short! The stat log on San Andreas says that I played 109 hours of GTA before I beat the last mission and put the game on the shelf. It only took me 22 hours for GTA: Liberty City Stories to do the same thing. I completely understand the $19.99 price tag becaues there isn't as much content compared to the other GTA games on the PS2. I also don't feel ripped off for paying $49.99 for the game on the PSP because Liberty City Stories was made to be played on the portable system. While on the go, I could forgive the short length of the missions, the smaller amount of radio chatter and how Liberty City just doesn't seem as big after played San Andreas. It was/is great fun on the PSP.

So anyways, I like the game. I think it is worth $19.99 for anyone who likes the GTA world (The game gives some fun insight to the world of Grand Theft Auto... a lot of how things came to be type stuff.) I just hope that people know that this game isn't content-filled like San Andreas.. your return trip to Liberty City will be short.

Side Note: I haven't been able to play any of the multiplayer modes on the PSP (mostly because I don't know a lot of people with PSPs and the ones that do.. don't care for GTA.) I heard they are fun. It would be nice if you could play the multiplayer modes over the internet on the PS2... that would definitely help sell the game more IMHO.
I hope to god they don't slap a greatest hits logo on this thing. Yeah, I'm one of those anal people, heh.
I agree with you. I have III, Vice City, and San Andreas without the GH logo, and I'll be PO'd if that's the only way to get this version (a la DMC 3: SE).

Has anyone picked it up yet?

I picked it up after I got out of school and have been playing for a good 2 hours. Everythings looks and plays just as good as it did in GTA3 or VC. I've been having fun with it so far. The only thing that irks me about the game is the cop system. I had one star for hitting a pedestrian while a cop was around. Then I hijacked a vehicle to espcape and then that made it two stars. After that, I was history. The cops seem to outrun you no matter how fast your car goes. They even outruned me while I was in a Sanchez. I then made it to 8-Ball's garagea area thinking that they wouldn't find me but I was wrong. After a few minutes of peace, three patrol cars came barging through and even ran over me. I was like WTF?!? I don't know if its because I haven't played a GTA game in a while but I don't remember GTA3, VC or SA cops being that aggresive.

You should've just outrun them with the one star, not stolen another vehicle. You get away from them with just one star and they'll give up and drop the star. Two stars means they won't give up and start getting aggressive.

Agreed. He was thinkign maybe if he kept committing crimes they would just give up on him ;)

I also picked this up today but didn't have anytime to play it yet. I played like 5 hours of it on the PSP but didn't like the controls too much probably since the second analog is non existant on the PSP. I'll post some of my thoughts tomorrow night.

I still don't understand why Sony left off the right analog stick when they built the PSP.

I should be getting the strategy guide for LCS next week, so then I'll probably start playing it. Anyone know if the "hidden packages" are included in the game, as well as all the various side missions we've come to expect from the series?

Yea they are.

I like it so far. Much better IMO then the PSP since Dual Analogs. Graphics are Vice City-ish but don;t need to be good since there are a ton of shit to do. Good Stuff so far.

IMHO, after beating the PSP version a long ass tiem ago, I can say this GTA has the best story in the entire series. It also clears up alot of character backgrounds.

oh, and Donald Love is the man in this game.

I finshed it today on the Ps2 very good game but short on the stat deal it said it took me 10hr 19min to finsh

it has the best story of any other GTA game well worth the $15 i spent

Based on the reviews, I was a little disappointed after I bought it because I read that the story and characters were not as developed as the other games in the series. I can't wait to play it, now that other CAGs are loving it.
