Guitar Hero II Guitar Problems

thegame1921

CAGiversary!
Back when I picked up the original GH I bought a third party guitar so I could play the multiplayer.

However, I picked up GHII the other day and went to play multiplayer but my third party guitar didn't seem to work right. Only two chords would work and they wouldn't be the right ones. Ex. blue button would be green in game. My first party guitar works fine though...

I was wondering if anybody else had this problem and if they found any solution to it.

I don't hav a third party guitar, so obviously I won't be too much help. But... I assume you tried it with the 3rd party guitar in slot 2. Havea you tried moving the 3rd party guitar to the other slot? Does it give the exact same problem? Have you tried using it with GH1 recentlly? It may be that the guitar is wiggin out on you if it doesn't work on GH1 either. Just some troubleshooting idas.

Yeah, I've tried both slots and get equal results with both. Also, I put GH1 back in and tried the guitar with it and it works fine. It's just something with GH2 that it doesn't want to work right.
GH2 knows 3rd party stuff is shitty. they dont accept it.
I honestly think this is true. Or Red Octane somehow made a lockout for other guitars.

It is true but I forgot where I heard it from. Supposedly guitar hero 2 had some changes to prevent 3rd party controllers that worked with the original game to be unplayable with the second one. There might be a crack for it if you can play backup games on your ps2.

GH2 doesn't work with some 3rd party guitars that were made for GH1. The Ant Commandos sells an adapter to make it work. You can get them on ebay too for about $10 + shipping. You have to follow these instructions to get it to work.
Q :How do I set up Guitar Hero II Compatibility Adapter?
A :In order to ensure proper operation, please make sure you follow the instructions below in setting up your Guitar Hero II compatible adapter. The sequence are important to make sure that it works properly. 1. Turn off PS2 and Guitar Controller (If Wireless) 2. Insert Wireless receiver/Wired Guitar Controller into the Compatibility Adapter 3. Turn on PS2 with GHII inside 4. Wait until the Animation begins with the Guitar players Fist in the Air, then insert the Compatibility Adapter and Wireless receiver. (it can be inserted any time after the animation begins) 5. Turn on Wireless Controller 6. Ensure the LED lights on Adapter (Blue), Receiver (Red), and Controller (Blue) are all solid. 7. Controller is now compatible with GHII Note : If there is no save information on the Memory card or no memory card inserted then the adapter and the receiver must be inserted when the Memory Card Screen is on. Then the Controller should be turned on. If you still have problem after a few trials, please email [email protected] for support Thank you.
