Halo 2 Issues on 360?

I was just wondering if anyone else was having issues playing Halo 2 on their 360s? Specifically, my friend and I wanted to play some 1v1, but when we tried, the game just kept giving us a "Waiting for all players to load map" message...then it wouldn't go anywhere. We tried restarting the system, choosing a different map, different gametypes, it kept giving us the same message. Anyone else come across this problem? I looked at my disc and though there are a good number of scratches (I used to play....ALOT), they are small and very faint and shouldn't cause problems.

The problems I've experienced myself:
Maps won't load
Image ghosting
Breakup on digital audio output
Sluggish performance on Backwash and a few other areas in certain maps

Same problem with Backwash.

I swear I got shittier when I moved from the Xbox to my 360.

I love playing on my 360, but I at times get the loading maps error when trying to play multiplayer custom games.

my 'trick' that seems to work every time, is let the other people start the custom game, i go start a custom game by myself (using the same map they are about to use), then i exit my custom game, jump into theirs, works perfect.

backwash is not playable on the 360, its why they took the map out of matchmaking.

You did. The emulation isn't great and the controller doesn't work with the game as well as the original.

Backwash is playable, but it's not very smooth. Just make sure to take the active camo off the map.

Some background textures have failed to load. Sometimes I get half a transparent texture stuck on my screen, rendering the game unplayable.

I don't know if some of these things have been fixed, I only played it a couple times in the last six months. When I first got my 360 I simply didn't play Halo 2 on it because the glitches were too fucking often.

Halo just had an Auto Update a couple of days ago, seems to have fixed some issues including the failing to load map (at least making mention of that issue).

Played two days of Halo in a row, ran into literally 1 cheater. Maybe it was just coincidence, but whatever they have done with the update has halped so far. Also, Frankie goes into further talks about the Halo 3 beta as well.

Mine's mint and I get the exact same thing, dude.

Ya I'm guessing they'd fix this Halo 2 thing especially now for the 360 since new maps are coming out for it...

Are you guys trying to play split screen or matchmaking? My issue comes from split screen play, maybe I should've made that clear.

But with the latest update, those of you who are experiencing difficulty loading maps on matchmaking, it may be normal. Frankie writes:

"Getting a “dirty disc” message, failing to load a map, or having a party member fail to load a map:

As you play Halo 2, your Xbox makes copies of the maps on your hard drive. Getting the auto-update cleared out those copies, so the maps need to load fresh copies from your DVD. If your poor old disc has suffered abuse and scratching since the last time these files were cleared, you may run into problems. Try cleaning your disc and see whether that helps with the issue. If your disc is badly damaged, you can probably borrow a disc from a friend until you load all the maps for the first time, then switch back to your own DVD. You can force the maps to load one at a time by starting local split-screen games before you go online. It’s also a valuable reminder to take good care of your game discs…"

I however, have been experiencing this problem way before the latest update. It's pretty annoying if I ever want to play split-screen (very very very rarely because it sucks so much ballz compared to H1)

Halo 2 is the only reason my orig. Xbox is still connected to my TV, I can Dominate on the Orig. Xbox (especially with my Mouse/Keyboard adaptor from Lik-Sang RIP).

Even with-out the M/K adaptor I swear you have an online advantage on the Orig, something in the emulation on 360 doesn't suit multiplay well.

To bad re-establishing Live account from 360 to Orig takes me NINE minutes every-time!
You can do that???

I thought once you transferred your account to the 360 it was there forever.
Nah, I switch between the two all the time. Mine doesn't take 9 minutes every time either. It's instant.

I can't imagine going back to playing on an old Xbox controller. The 360's, though not as much different as you might think, just feels so much better than the original Xbox's.

A negative thing, now when a local Halo 2 tourny comes around my area, which they do, they don't allow people to play with the 360 controllers :(
