yeah. the pawn shop sketchiness is a factor too. who knows where it's been and what has happened to it.
i've purchased 3 systems from pawn shops (a slim PS2, a SNES, and a 64) all are working fine (and i've had them for over 4 months.. the 64 for almost a year now).. but again if it doesn't work you can always return it that day for a refund (the ones near me do that, actually for a week or more i think, i've never had any issues with games or systems from mine) so i'd ask that question first, also if they are not privy to the Halo system and its worth, i'd ask "how low can you go on this" and if they tell you something say something like "I have a hundred thats all i have on me will you take it?" or tell them you'll buy a couple games if you lower the price on the system (did that with the PS2.. paid 120 got 3 games, memory card, PS2).. but it doesn't always work (tried to downplay N64 games the other day they wanted 10 a piece for them and they wouldn't take my very generous offer of 5 (just some random star wars games) ) so yeah.. but also before you buy it bring in like 3 or 4 games and test the system before you leave.. thats the best route to go.
