Happy Restoring Honor Day! 08.28.10

I think it's more protesting the fact that Obama continues to pursue policies that are running this country into the ground. National debt now at $13 trillion. Pushing a health care bill that will make a broken system even worse even though the majority of Americans disagree with it. Near 10% unemployment despite pissing away hundreds of billions of dollars in "stimulus packages" and now likely a hefty tax increase in the near future to fund all his disastrous policies.

I don't agree with much of what Glenn Beck stands for but why he'll able to tap into such widespread resentment is understandable. If this ends up with someone like Palin ending up with a credible shot at the Presidency, then God help us all.

Of course they did. But that was the ONLY big government thing they hated. Not a peep until we had to bail out the banks.

They like big government, but only big government (R).

Those problems were all CAUSED BY BUSH. The protest is nothing more than racist act by bigoted dumb hicks against our black President
That sure sounds like a fumble to me ;)
+1 point for Ruined.

EDIT: To all...

Was there a miracle at the rally? I'm not hearing about one.

I swear this tea party crap seems like a front for anti-government militia types. Saying you want to overthrow the government gets you crazy looks from people, saying you want to keep the government out of *insert issue here* gets you cheers from a crowd. It's basically accomplishing the same thing using different methods. Tea partiers want to compromise the federal government and weaken it as much as possible, giving the power instead to each individual state.

I already hear about "the revolution" from conservatives occasionally. I used to think it was a joke, but they usually aren't laughing when they say this.

Conservatives are against any solutions to problems the United States is facing because they only way they have a chance to regain political power is for them to make things as horrible for everyone as possible.

They are a bunch of ideological jihadists.

That's funny, last I checked conservatives didn't have control of the legislative, or executive branches of government. It seems like a lot more than conservatives are standing in the way of these supposed solutions you claim are being ignored.

I bet you are one of the people who think we need a 3rd stimulus.
Do these guys even realize that GW started the whole stimulus thing?
I think you missed the keyword of "continue" in his post.

Unless you saw it, and are claiming that Bush did some good with the stimulus, then two wrongs don't make a right.

Person X does policy 1.0. People were weary, but accepted policy 1 for the most part. Policy 1 has no effect.

Person Y does policy policy 1.1. People remember how little effect policy 1.0 had and dislike policy 1.1. Policy 1.1 has no effect.

You guys: I just don't understand why people dislike Person Y's policy 1.1, everyone liked Person X's policy 1.0. Those people must be idiots to dislike something the government did a second time.
That's funny, last I checked conservatives didn't have control of the legislative, or executive branches of government.
They have managed to waterdown, slowdown and at times block major legislation by filibustering in the Senate.

I bet you are one of the people who think we need a 3rd stimulus.

Are you conflating the bailout and the stimulus?

The stimulus should have been much bigger to begin, what was proposed shouldn't have been watered down and in my opinion anyone who has any sense would support another stimulus package.
um, not a big fan of rallies in general. not sure what this has to do with anything.

I'm gonna defend oppressed minorities. That would include blacks, jews, muslims, whatever it may be.

In this case, why are 'these people' in the minority? Because they choose to be, they choose to cling onto neocon foreign policy, Reagenesque foreign policy, etc.
Huh, what would you say if someone said black people are in poverty because they choose to follow liberal policies? Let's keep generalizing entire races, this is fun.

Or are we still under the "only if they are white rule?"

lol

I would say those people are stupid and/or willfully ignorant.

And I would be correct.

And here is knoell displaying the stunning erudition he is known for.

You deflect from the point, and the GOP filibusters everything on god's green earth.

You are ignoring the point that many moderate democrats vote against the same thing republicans do.
You are ignoring the point that many moderate democrats vote against the same thing republicans do.
You are stretching "many" a bit as well as "moderate" and "Democrat", but it would not be enough to matter if Republicans were interested in up or down votes.

So how'd it go? After downing a nature bar and a 75 cent cup of vending machine coffee this DC liberal elite had to work today, so unforturnately I couldn't go to the rally like all of those hard-working conservatives that were able to enjoy this beautiful saturday on the mall preaching their self-rightous manifesto of corporatism and theocracy.

At the risk of sounding conservative, these people need to get something productive to do.

At the risk of sounding liberal, they need to get a life.

At the risk of sounding educated, they need to get a clue.

I didn't know 'extremely conservative' was a race. I'll have to look closer at the next census.

And look at any tea party survey. They overwhelmingly favor candidates who have similar views in foreign policy, economic policy, social views, etc. I'm not painting with a broad brush, these are based on polls.

Not sure what he plans on preaching and expects to happen. I know what will happen, nothing. Nothing will happen because no one makes anything happen. All anyone does is stand around and preach, give speeches and lecture us on how we need to change, how we need to not be racist, how this and how that. But nothing ever changes because thats all people do is talk, no one actually wants to do anything. They just want to be paid attention and feel a sense of self satisfaction in themselves but at the end of the day everyone will go home and do exactly what they have always done.

And that is why things are in the shitter in this country. People hear the president give some grand speech or some elected official and then they feel a sense of security that everything will be ok and they dont do a damn thing because the president reassured us like a nurturing parent, then when they wake up one morning 9 months later everything is the same because no one actually did anything.

All beck wants is attention and people listening. He doesnt give a shit and he wont actually do anything or get anything done.

Does this statement also apply to the Sharpton rally?
But the sharpton rally had people of every race and color at it how could you hate on that you racist white guy
Shouldn't you be busy crying and closing your threads?
Shouldn't you be busy crying and closing your threads?
I usually disagree with you but I can't argue with this.

I think both rallies were peaceful and I didn't see or hear anything racist in any of the coverage of the events, so stop being pissy about it troy, my previous post had nothing to do with race, just how come one person can be dismissive of one rally while another rally with a similiar message was going on and is ok, must be politics.

http://weaselzippers.us/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/al-sharpton-restoring-the-dream..jpg

I'm not seeing pretty much any ethnicity in this picture except one, white people at a white rally and black people at a black rally, where are all the self-hating white people like yourself, either everyone is racist or neither is based on these rallies, you racist probably white guy. Beck had King's niece with him at the event and Beck frequently referenced him at the event and honors notable black people on his show, hell the event took place where King had his speech, you probably don't read about that on your liberal blogs so I don't want to blow your perception of his audience to much in one post.
Shouldn't you be busy crying and closing your threads?
Ya, I should be closing my threads when someone posts some Muslim shit in it. fuck off.

Al Sharpton is a political hack but at least he has some sort of connection to MLK. If it was truly about America, they should've combined the two appearances in a bi-partisan appeal to peace and love.

So, did anything really come out of this rally? Is there video of Beck using super-secret code words to activate his brigade of followers to assassinate the dirty Kenyan president or something? Or was this a big hooplah over nothing?
Ya, I should be closing my threads when someone posts some Muslim shit in it. fuck off.
By the way, I was sad you closed that because I did want to defend my part in the discussion on BO's meal. I wasn't really interested in what he ate or anything - just thought it was odd that someone made a conscious decision to say "don't tell". It's like if I hand someone five boxes and tell them they can open up four of them, but they *cannot* open that fifth box... they're going to wonder what that fifth box is all about....
