Has anyone worked on their rebates yet after your BF haul? (Problem)

Most of them were no problem. Unfortunately for the 200gig HD from Office Max (unable to get the BB 160gig ones) there is a $60 and a $20 rebate form...the $20 I got at the register and the $60 online. The problem is that both need the original UPC. What the hell?

Anyone have suggestions or comments?

I hate rebates, they fuck me over on them 9/10 times when I follow everything perfectly, so I just quit buying products that have them. I say they are a scam.

my sister works for office max, and she told me that they will accept a copy of the upc for the office max rebates, and then send the original in to western digital

this is what i plan on doing, as i got the hd and the cd-r's

Obviously you can only use one at a time. Store and/or manufacturer trying to avoid the double dip.

Also gotta say that rebates suck....

Did Office Max list (either in store or in their flyer, etc) that you would get $80 in rebates via their rebate and this one available online? If so I'd call up Office Max (or talk to someone at customer service where you got the HDD) and show them your concern and ask them what they propose you do. I'd suggest they just give me $20 back. If you found the online rebate on your own, send the UPC for the $60 one and a copy of the UPC for the $20 one.

Personally I haven't had a problem with any of the rebates I've done so far. It's not really that much of a hassle. I just fill out the form, send it in, and keep a copy of everything in a file. Actually this post reminds me that I think my latest rebate has been outstanding for a while. I should check on that one... :?

Thanks, I just did more research and you can send in a copy of the UPC to Office Max and the original to WD...but technically both are going to be sent to Office Max anyways.

Can you ask if I can do rebates if I bought 2 of the same 200 gig hard drives?
Only one rebate per item per address. You should have had your friend buy the second one
Well, it doesn't really matter who bought it, just get a friend to let you use their address for the rebate, or a relative, or your work address - whatever.

And to the person that said rebates aren't worth your time - it isn't worth 5 minutes and a stamp for $50-$60?

Try contacting one of the companies offering the rebate and see if they will accept a photocopy. Explain the situation, I'm sure they'll advise you.

Mine were sent of Saturday after BF. I never have any problems with rebates, just follow the directions to the letter. And get your $$$!

BB is the best about rebates! I usually get the ones directly from BB within 2 weeks. But the down side is I would have to shop there.

That is what I always do, with a little explaination about it to the rebate center... took care of mine that morning... already recieved confirmation status in a few cases too.
